Kaia, Tether, and LINE NEXT jointly host a hackathon to launch Kaia USDt-based DeFi mini Dapps for LINE's global users
The winning teams will launch in the form of Mini Dapps, allowing users to experience stablecoin trading, staking, yield generation, and more within LINE, while connecting to Kaia's robust Web3 ecosystem and business network.

Event focus: DeFi projects based on Kaia USDt and other stablecoins will have the opportunity to join the LINE Messenger "Dapp Portal," which has 194 million monthly active users, in the form of Mini Dapps.
-
Prizes and investment: A total prize pool of $170,000, plus up to $1 million in venture capital matching opportunities (totaling $1.17 million in support).

Global parallel events: Kaia, Tether, and LINE NEXT will jointly host two stablecoin-themed hackathons to support developers worldwide.

Starting August 25, 2025, the Kaia DLT Foundation (Kaia) will co-host the "Kaia Wave Stablecoin Summer Hackathon" with Tether and LINE NEXT Corp. This event aims to identify outstanding and scalable DeFi projects using Kaia USDt and other stablecoins, and support their integration into the LINE Messenger "Dapp Portal" ecosystem, which serves 194 million monthly active users.
Winning teams will launch as Mini Dapps, allowing users within LINE to access stablecoin trading, staking, yield generation, and more, while connecting to Kaia's robust Web3 ecosystem and commercial network. The event also aligns with the Kaia Wave Season 2 ecosystem program, offering ongoing support for Mini Dapp builders.
The hackathon offers a total of $1.17 million in support, including a $170,000 cash prize pool and $1 million in investment allocations across ten top projects. Developers can now register via the Dorahacks hackathon page (dorahacks.io/hackathon/kaia-stablecoin-summer/detail).
The organizers will host an offline kickoff event at Tokyo WebX on August 25, followed by a virtual final demo day on September 30.
Kaia ecosystem partners including Cicada, Dune Analytics, CertiK, ANKR, Hacken, Animoca Brands, Caladan, and SNZ Holding will serve as sponsors, providing incentives and resources to top global Dapp teams. For details, follow Kaia’s official website and social media (https://x.com/KaiaChain).
Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, said: “This hackathon marks the beginning of global expansion for stablecoin applications. LINE NEXT will collaborate with Tether and Kaia to nurture innovative business models and accelerate the adoption of Web3 services and stablecoins.”
Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, said: “By partnering again with Tether and LINE NEXT, we will bring global stablecoin DeFi projects onto Kaia and develop them into Mini Dapps for millions of LINE users. Through this series of developer initiatives, we aim to discover groundbreaking applications that will lead the Kaia ecosystem and grow together with our developers.”
In addition to this event, Kaia will launch another “First Korea Stablecoin Hackathon” with Tether, KakaoPay, and LINE NEXT on August 4, 2025. Both hackathons will run in parallel (registration: https://www.kaia.io/korea-stablecoin-hackathon).
