A Comprehensive Analysis of Matr1x: With $MAX Launching on OKX, Can It Spark This Round's GameFi Summer?
You don't have to play blockchain games, but you must know Matr1x!
Author: Monica | Crypto Little Miss
Today, $MAX—the governance token of the Matr1x platform—has officially launched on OKX Jumpstart for staking and mining, marking one of the most significant events recently in the blockchain gaming sector.
Put simply: you don’t have to play blockchain games, but you must understand Matr1x!
✍️ A quick note before we begin:
As I write this article, I feel a bit nervous and under slight pressure. In my view, Matr1x has already become a top-tier project in the current blockchain gaming space—whether judged by game quality, operational execution, or brand recognition. Especially at this pivotal moment, not only myself but also many fellow blockchain gaming enthusiasts and projects are eagerly anticipating Matr1x to fire the first shot and ignite the upcoming GameFi Summer!
As an early investor, I’ve been closely following Matr1x’s development journey. This article will share my personal perspective—not just offering macro-level insights, but also including my reflections on transitioning into the blockchain gaming space, along with thoughts and experiences gathered from interactions with the team.
So let’s dive in! 👉
🔸 Introduction to the MATR1X Platform

MATR1X is an innovative cultural entertainment platform integrating Web3 gaming, artificial intelligence, esports, and blockchain infrastructure. It aims to transform the global gaming and digital content industries through blockchain and AI technologies, accelerating the arrival of the Web3 era.
Positioning: Infrastructure and distribution system for Web3 cultural entertainment
Product Count: 4 premium games + 1 esports platform + 2 infrastructure products
Currently, the MATR1X platform features four Web3-native games: the classic mobile shooter MATR1X FIRE, battle royale title MATR1X BATTLE, RPG+Roguelike 3A game Castile, and Web3 MOBA Evermoon. It also includes the GEDA esports platform and M1-Chain—a game-focused public chain built on OP-stack. Notably, MATR1X FIRE has surpassed 2.5 million downloads globally.
✍️ When people talk about Matr1x, they often focus on Matr1x Fire. However, that perception isn't entirely accurate. While Matr1x Fire was the first release, Matr1x's true vision and positioning is that of a platform—not merely another GameFi project. There’s a big difference between the two:
The platform can both develop and publish its own games, as well as collaborate with external developers. Not every game needs to be created in-house. Whether it’s asset issuance or the upcoming listing of $MAX, everything is designed from a platform-wide perspective, increasing diversity and long-term value potential.
🔸 Funding Background and Amount

Total funding raised exceeds $20 million USD.
Seed Round & A-1 Round: $10 million USD
Led by Hana Financial Investment, with other institutional investors including Hashkey Capital, Amber Group, and SevenX Ventures.
Hana Financial Investment belongs to the Hanjin Group, which owns Korea’s second-largest bank by total assets, Hana Bank.
A-2 Round: Over $10 million USD
Co-led by Folius Ventures and SevenX, with additional participation from ABCDE, Find Satoshi Lab, Jambo Ventures, and strategic investments from OKX Ventures, Animoca Brands, and Makers Fund.
• Folius Ventures is a leading Web3 fund and was the Series A lead investor in StepN
• Find Satoshi Lab is StepN’s investment arm
• Makers Fund is a top-tier U.S.-based Web3 fund
Alright, that covers the basics of Matr1x—from platform overview to funding details.
Most readers likely already have some familiarity—after all, I’ve shared posts about it before. As I mentioned earlier, when discussing Matr1x on social media or offline, common keywords include: blockchain gaming, shooting mechanics, fun gameplay, strong热度 (popularity), etc.
But what does “fun” and “hot” actually mean? How popular is the game really? Let’s look at real user data first!
2.5 million app downloads; 5.62 million on-chain user addresses; over 50,000 DAU during testing;
✍️ Since I’ve been closely tracking this test phase, I know these numbers are actually conservative. The team reported that DAU briefly exceeded 70,000 during testing. At this stage, such figures are unmatched by most other projects—and frankly, they challenged my understanding of the current market landscape!
Why did it achieve such impressive results? The answers will become clear as you read on~
Now, the key question: What exactly is $MAX, which is about to launch trading on OKX?👇

🔸 Introduction to $MAX,即将上线OKX交易的 $MAX 介绍

$MAX is the governance token of the Matr1x platform, with a total supply of 1 billion tokens, designed to support applications and services within the ecosystem.
$MAX Value: Entitles holders to revenue sharing and governance rights across hundreds of future platform products, providing long-term incentives for all ecosystem participants.
Main Uses of $MAX:
• Community Governance: Propose and vote on MATR1X community decisions;
• Ecosystem Value Capture: Access treasury distributions, participate in MATR1X Launchpool, receive airdrops from partner projects, etc.;
• Exclusive Privileges: Gain special access such as publishing games on the MATR1X platform or competing for club seats;
• Staking & Rewards: Stake $MAX to become an ecosystem node, earn rewards, and participate in governance decisions—including revenue allocation—on the MATR1X blockchain.
✍️ Let me help explain $MAX in simpler terms. As previously noted, Matr1x is positioned as a platform—not just a single game.
Therefore, unlike other blockchain gaming projects, $MAX’s utility extends beyond just one game like FIRE. Currently, the Matr1x platform hosts five games, with more coming in the future.
As a platform, third-party developers can launch their games here. If you want to publish a game, you’ll need to stake $MAX—because we offer user base and traffic. That’s one use case.
From the user side, new games on the Matr1x platform will launch via Launchpool. Matr1x will select promising partners, and users can stake $MAX to gain early access to new game assets or tokens. Additionally, when platform games generate revenue, a portion will flow into a pool for $MAX holders. These represent two additional use cases.
Governance voting is straightforward—similar logic to most crypto tokens today, where holders influence future platform direction.
In summary, holding $MAX is the best way to invest in Matr1x’s growth. I strongly recommend those participating in OKX’s launchpad to take a closer look.
Now that we've covered $MAX, let’s move to the core themes of this article:
How did Matr1xFire achieve such high user metrics? Can the launch of $MAX ignite the upcoming GameFi Summer?
Let’s start with the first topic. As everyone knows, Matr1x Fire is a FPS shooter game. When talking about games, our first questions are always: Is the quality good? Is it fun to play?
FPS games are already mature in Web2—take CSGO, for example. Beyond its famous skin economy, the genre naturally retains users due to competitive PVP gameplay, without needing constant content updates or mechanic iterations like MMORPGs, which often risk player backlash.
For a mobile FPS game, quality mainly depends on graphics, network latency, and anti-cheat systems—all technical aspects. The gameplay modes themselves don’t require innovation; they’re already proven.
Matr1x Fire has excelled in operations within the Web3 space, regularly releasing in-game demos and live streams of tournament servers. Players generally recognize its quality—this is evident in the data. The core reason for reaching over 70k DAU in testing was a massive influx of Web2 players. Many simply saw it as a newly released mobile game.
Beyond solid game quality, what else did the Matr1x team do right?👇
1. Professional Operational Execution
In my eyes, the Matr1x team is highly dedicated—working late into the night, occasionally updating me on progress.
During testing, their operational focus wasn’t limited to Chinese-speaking communities or even just the Web3 space.
They understand that success for an FPS game hinges on building a large user base.
It’s simple: FPS games rely on intense PVP competition. Without enough users, players match against bots and quickly churn out.
So what specific actions did they take?
Let me give a representative example: Recently, Valorant’s official news site—one of the most prominent Web2 FPS games—featured and promoted Matr1x, generating excellent traction and attracting many Web2 players.
At first, I didn’t fully grasp the impact, but when I shared it internally, the team was thrilled. Even third-party media placements reflect the team’s operational precision and professionalism.
2. Global Regional Expansion
As mentioned, their operational focus spans globally, ensuring a sufficiently large user base.
Founder @saku_web3 previously stated in an AMA that the Matr1x team operates in a fully distributed manner, with dedicated staff in each region. This ensures direct access to proper local channels for effective promotion.
I believe Saku, as team leader, shows great experience here. Hiring full-time local staff may seem costly short-term, but long-term efficiency gains reduce overall costs. Without local expertise, teams waste time and money navigating incorrect channels.
Let’s back this up with actual numbers from the team:
Social Media Matrix: 1,325,015 followers
Community Matrix: 300K+
Both social media engagement and follower counts demonstrate the team’s strong collaborative outreach.
3. Esports + Watch-to-Earn Model
We highlight "esports" separately because the Matr1x team has invested significant time and resources into it—it’s a core operational pillar.
When I spoke with Saku, he said: “Others only talk about esports—we actually deliver it.”
And honestly, I see no exaggeration in that statement. Anyone following Matr1x knows they frequently host esports tournaments—often visible on Twitter—with events held worldwide, including Hong Kong, drawing teams from numerous regions.
How does Matr1x execute this?
First, they established their own offline team—Heibai Esports—hosting live events in physical venues, mirroring traditional Web2 esports models. They stream matches on YouTube, Twitter, Bilibili, and other platforms to drive traffic.
Second, Heibai Esports (@heibaiweb3) maintains an official account, posting tutorial videos and promotional content. Individual players also leverage their personal social media to attract new users.
Finally, they introduced the innovative “Watch-to-Earn” model, rewarding viewers for watching streams—driving better secondary conversion. After receiving tokens or exclusive loot boxes, viewers naturally download the game to open them or learn how to sell them.
Summary: The success of Matr1x Fire stems from exceptional team operations. The above three points are just what I’ve observed. Sometimes I’m truly impressed—their operational capabilities rival top internet companies. Solid game quality combined with professional execution explains their current metrics.
Now, let’s discuss the final key topic: Can $MAX’s launch ignite the upcoming GameFi Summer?
I’ve previously mentioned on Twitter that starting this year, my team and I have shifted more focus toward the blockchain gaming sector. Many still associate blockchain gaming primarily with the GameFi Summer of late 2021.
Over the past nearly three years, while we’ve seen many VC firms investing in Web3 games, very few have broken into mainstream awareness or generated notable wealth effects. The closest recent example might be Bigtime. Coincidentally, it was through Bigtime that I earned early returns and began my transition.
From my perspective, starting in May, numerous blockchain games entered testing phases—far more frequent than before, with over ten now in play-to-earn testing.
After experiencing various project types, our biggest takeaway is that the entire sector has matured significantly compared to last year—game quality has improved, and talent pools have expanded. All that VC capital from the last bull-bear cycle has finally materialized into real products, and we’re seeing genuinely promising ones emerge.
Thus, the foundational conditions for a “GameFi Summer” already exist—there are now plenty of quality games available for players.
Matr1x is the first major Web3 gaming project this year to list on a top-tier exchange. Reviewing recent exchange listings, blockchain gaming projects appear extremely infrequently.
This has drawn attention not only from me but also from other blockchain gaming enthusiasts and competing projects.
From a product performance standpoint
Matr1x Fire demonstrates exceptionally strong core metrics, with DAU exceeding 70,000—setting a benchmark for leadership in the blockchain gaming space.
Upcoming paid testing and public launch phases will further validate its potential. Although Matr1x Fire’s performance directly impacts $FIRE, the economic model requires 40 $FIRE plus KUKU boxes to obtain $MAX. Thus, $MAX’s cost and value are inherently higher than $FIRE’s (individual luck affects $FIRE cost, hence varying $MAX costs, but most exceed $1 per $MAX).
Undoubtedly, if Matr1xFire sustains its testing-phase momentum, it will become a breakout phenomenon.
From the $MAX value proposition standpoint
As summarized earlier, the best investment angle on Matr1x is $MAX. Conversely, $MAX’s successful launch symbolizes the platform’s success—but what kind of success?
If it achieves breakout status—exceeding expectations in trading volume and price—it won’t just draw renewed attention to the blockchain gaming sector, but also inspire other teams. It could trigger a butterfly effect, prompting exchanges to prioritize blockchain gaming. In fact, many teams have already completed multiple test rounds—they’re just waiting for the right moment to launch tokens.
Final Thoughts
As an early investor, I admit I can’t be completely objective writing this piece. But precisely because I know the project well, I hope readers can gain a more comprehensive understanding through my lens—understanding why so many are watching, and extracting valuable insights.
Lastly, why do I insist you should check out Matr1x? Because if I had to pick one blockchain gaming project today that’s both representative and capable of breaking out quickly, it would undoubtedly be Matr1x.
I sincerely hope—and believe—that a true GameFi Summer arrives soon, and that Matr1x becomes the spark that ignites it!
