Hangout: Blockchain 2D Parallel Metaverse, the Right Path Arrives Late but Sure

In April this year, RNG Foundation, under Royal Never Give Up (RNG), the esports club, announced its investment in the metaverse game Hangout, bringing it into the public spotlight.
At the beginning of August, a new marketing team joined and gave HO (Hangout Metaverse) a fresh narrative positioning: a blockchain-powered 2D parallel metaverse.
"A fully international team distributed across North America, Australia, Singapore, and China;
Creative leaders who are experts in GameFi and the metaverse, with extensive experience in content creation and management;
The lead art team behind <Eastward>, a game acclaimed by Steam as 'the best pixel art design ever made';
A technically solid and trustworthy development team with long-term experience in the crypto industry;"

These were key factors for L when deciding to lead his team in taking over HO’s market operations. But the primary reason was that, drawing on years of project launch experience and as an NFT enthusiast and Web3 native, L strongly believes in NFTs as the future gateway to the metaverse.
L believes the next mainstream trend in the web3 space will be the integration of NFTs, metaverse, and DeFi.
Existing ecosystems like Ethereum and DeFi projects present a certain learning curve for most average users. While popular PFP NFT projects today are easier to popularize and gain mass acceptance, they still lack a sustainable follow-up economic model.
A visualized gaming platform that presents what crypto users do on public blockchain ecosystems—such as token swaps, lending, NFT purchases, and public goods building—in ways more accessible to ordinary users is exactly what Hangout aims to achieve going forward.
As for why they chose 2D instead of the currently trending VR/AR, L’s team has its own rationale. VR/AR technology is still not mature enough; to deliver a relatively complete and pleasant user experience, existing robust 2D game technology is more suitable.
This aligns with the product philosophy of renowned game designer Gunpei Yokoi, former key figure at Nintendo: "Lateral thinking with mature technology." Applying well-developed, even nearly obsolete technologies in novel ways across different domains often leads to blockbuster products.
This is also the philosophy Hangout intends to uphold—starting simple with small games and visuals, continuously improving foundational infrastructure, preparing to integrate more proven DeFi and NFT projects over time, and collectively building an on-chain space within Hangout’s 2D parallel universe.
Take Uniswap, which has already successfully onboarded, as an example. Rather than just conducting trades on a basic dApp interface, users in Hangout’s parallel universe will see their avatars enter an exchange named UniSwap to perform bank-like transactions. Meanwhile, users can also wear their NFT avatars and curate exhibitions for their NFT collections in dedicated display areas. To continually enrich user experiences and expand world modules, the team is actively partnering with various blue-chip projects.
Of course, beyond attracting quality projects and enhancing facilities, social features are crucial to whether a world can draw in more users. Whether users can have meaningful interactions and are willing to invite friends to spend more time here is currently the top priority for the Hangout team.
To this end, the new marketing team has specially planned a major event called "World Quest," marking their first big move since taking over operations. The planning process took nearly two months of discussion, aiming to maximize protection of existing users’ interests while effectively attracting potential new users.
They’ve crafted a full storyline specifically for Hangout and developed a dedicated event page to enhance user immersion.
The entire event will last seven weeks, during which players must complete different tasks at various stages. Through this journey, users will gain deeper understanding of Hangout’s worldview and goals, growing alongside the platform.
As part of this overarching narrative, "World Quest" will select pioneers through draws and other methods. Participants must successfully complete a series of tasks and help build a spaceship to earn $HOP points, which can be redeemed in the Hangout store for various rewards such as USDT, WL (whitelist), early access rights when blue-chip projects join, and more. Key notes:
-
Pioneer spots are limited and will share an airdrop worth approximately $100,000; earlier participants receive greater benefits;
-
There are multiple paths to obtain Pioneer status—follow Hangout’s official Twitter and Discord for details;
-
Early Pioneer members can not only earn points by playing but also receive invitation codes to recruit new Pioneers. The first batch of Pioneer members will be drawn from those who complete official tasks before September 28;
-
Hangout will list its PFP WL mystery boxes in the store two weeks after the game launches; participants will become the first WL holders;
Here, TechFlow has secured a limited number of Pioneer spots for our readers: Simply open a ticket in the HO official Discord community indicating you’re a TechFlow reader and submit your wallet address to claim one—limited quantities available, first come, first served.
