According to FTX's official Twitter, the FTX Foundation established the FTX Future Fund on March 1, investing in startups and nonprofit organizations in fields such as artificial intelligence, biosecurity, disaster recovery, vaccines, food security, and big data to support sustainable development for humanity and the planet.

FTX officially stated: Today, we are launching a new initiative under the FTX Foundation—the FTX Future Fund. To support long-term global progress, we plan to invest or grant at least $100 million (up to $1 billion) this year to startups and nonprofits in targeted areas, helping them advance their long-term visions.
What is the FTX Future Fund?
The FTX Future Fund is primarily funded by FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and focuses on investing in visionary companies with significant social impact. It embodies SBF’s philosophy of effective altruism—using wealth effectively to give back to society.
The FTX Future Fund has already invited its first batch of applicants and is also open to public applications. Applicants must submit their proposals and requested funding amounts by March 21.
Unlike other funds, the core mission of the FTX Future Fund is to promote the long-term sustainability of Earth and humanity. Even if a proposal carries high risk of failure, the fund is still willing to invest. The fund employs a rapid review process, with most proposals evaluated within 14 days, and the fund guarantees no interference in the day-to-day operations of funded organizations.
Currently, the FTX Future Fund supports 35 focus areas, including artificial intelligence, biosecurity, disaster recovery, vaccines, food security, innovative education experiments, policy evaluation, big data, media, and film.
To increase investment diversity, the FTX Future Fund is also hosting a creative competition, encouraging the public to suggest new investment areas. Proposals that are adopted will receive a $5,000 prize.
FTX Foundation has donated over $18 million
The FTX Foundation was launched in February 2021, with FTX committing to donate 1% of its platform trading fees to the foundation. According to its website, donations have already exceeded $18 million and continue to grow.
The FTX Future Fund is not the first initiative launched by the FTX Foundation.
In July 2021, the FTX Foundation launched FTX Climate, aiming to achieve four goals: fulfilling FTX’s carbon neutrality commitment, funding climate-related research and policies, supporting carbon removal projects, and financing other climate-related causes (e.g., donations for Henan flood relief).
Last year, the FTX Foundation purchased 100,000 carbon credits from BurnStoves in the voluntary carbon market and also provided three-year funding to the Honnold Foundation to install solar panels in areas most in need.
