Global HR leader Randstad adopts Cypherium's blockchain solution
Randstad announced the selection of Cypherium's enterprise blockchain solution to further automate its workflows.
How can blockchain help enterprises improve efficiency and productivity?
Randstad, one of the world’s largest HR firms and a Fortune 500 company, provided an answer this year.
Earlier this year, Randstad announced it would adopt a smart contract-focused blockchain to further automate its workflows.
According to the announcement, the company's 40,000 employees will use Cypherium's enterprise blockchain solution based in New York, which has partnered with major cloud providers including Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Amazon Web Services.
Cypherium is a hybrid blockchain platform that combines two consensus mechanisms: Proof-of-Work (PoW) and HotStuff (also used by Facebook’s Libra). The protocol is highly scalable while preserving privacy protection features. It uses a Java-based, fully Turing-complete virtual machine to execute smart contracts.
Randstad expects that using blockchain will significantly reduce human error and save time, especially for critical HR tasks such as payments, verification of academic and professional qualifications, and personal identity data management. Verifying this information will depend on collaboration with official sources (such as public authorities), which must publish digital certificate hashes onto the Cypherium public chain.
To protect individual privacy, Cypherium's approach combines cryptographic hashing, metadata, and digital signature systems. Only digital fingerprints of personal identity information are stored on-chain, while the actual data remains off-chain and is transmitted via secure encrypted channels—eliminating the need to store sensitive data directly on the blockchain. The platform supports the widely adopted Decentralized ID (DID) standard, further enhancing user protection and compatibility with enterprise applications.
Frank Van der Bijl, Randstad's Global Partnership Manager, stated that above all, the company sought a simple solution: “Google Compute Engine and the Cypherium blockchain have proven to be the ideal combination. We can access both with just a few clicks—no need to build everything ourselves, install additional applications, or handle maintenance.”
Cypherium is a highly scalable, permissionless hybrid blockchain platform based on Proof-of-Work and Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus, designed to meet the performance requirements of enterprise-grade applications and provide technical solutions for central bank digital currency issuance. It is a member of the US Faster Payments Council under the Federal Reserve.
Currently, Cypherium's partners include IBM, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, OMFIF, IC3, and Randstad, the world's largest HR firm.
