There is a hot new narrative with the potential to drive mass adoption of Web3. This isn't just a passing trend—it's a powerful shift changing how we interact with Web3. In this article, crypto researcher Ignas explores the latest developments in account abstraction and GameFi, and discusses how this narrative can become more appealing to bring more users into the world of crypto. Below is the original text.
My girlfriend recently bought cryptocurrency for the first time. As I introduced her to the world of DeFi, I became increasingly aware of the challenges faced by newcomers:
• Seed phrases;
• High gas fees;
• Poor user experience;
• Crypto jargon, etc.
Recent developments and projects are revolutionizing how we use cryptocurrency. Among them, EIP-4337 is a key catalyst. This upgrade takes account abstraction to a whole new level.
The benefits brought by ERC-4337 account abstraction are revolutionary:
• Two-factor authentication;
• Transaction signing via mobile phone;
• Monthly spending limits;
• Mobile phones as hardware wallets;
• Decentralized wallet recovery;
• Automated payments, and more.
It’s Web3, but with a Web2 user experience.
“Account abstraction” doesn’t sound very appealing, so it’s better to refer to it as “smart accounts.” But it’s not just about naming—several crypto projects are working to bring cryptocurrency to the masses through revolutionary user experiences. Here are the leading ones:
Avocado: Breaking Down Barriers
Instadapp’s Avocado is delivering blockchain aggregation and next-generation smart wallets.
It has the potential to become an all-in-one dApp for DeFi and NFTs, eliminating concerns about which blockchain to use or which tokens are needed to pay gas fees.
Biconomy: Simplifying the Experience
Biconomy brings one-click experiences to dApps:
• Easy onboarding with social logins and fiat entry;
• Transactions without gas fees or any token payments;
• Handling Web3 operations on behalf of users;
• Chain-agnostic experience for cross-chain tasks.
dApps only need to integrate it.

Argent Wallet: Enhancing Security
Argent Wallet is a pioneering smartphone wallet.
If you're used to MetaMask, creating and recovering wallets using email addresses and phone numbers will feel refreshingly new.
It’s an all-in-one investment app for staking, lending, token swaps, and more.
Argent is not a new product, but I believe it's now poised for broader adoption:
• EIP-4337 account abstraction;
• L2 adoption enabling low gas fees and fast transactions;
• Avocado for blockchain aggregation and USDC-denominated fees;
• zkSync Era launch + potential airdrop?
Smart wallets can train new DeFi users even if they’ve never heard of MetaMask.
Ambire Wallet: Improving Experience
Wallets like Ambire Wallet offer enhanced user experiences:
• Email login;
• Two-factor authentication protection;
• Built-in transaction batching;
• Paying gas fees with stablecoins;
• Transaction simulation.
MetaMask Recently Announced Two Major Changes:
First, MetaMask Snap will transform the wallet into a platform. It will support any blockchain to adapt to a multi-chain future—for example, Bitcoin or StarkNet. With Snaps, anyone can add new features to the core wallet.

Second, the MetaMask SDK on Unity Asset Store allows developers to link games with MetaMask, adding Web3 functionality directly into games. Combined with smart accounts, it transforms “crypto games” into “games with crypto features.”
In my opinion, these changes will be a massive boost for GameFi development.

Immutable
The Immutable protocol is helping GameFi achieve mass adoption. It is the fourth-largest Layer 2, with $136 million in total value locked (TVL). It offers games, apps, and marketplaces zero gas fees, instant transactions, and scalability—greatly improving user experience.

Additionally, Immutable announced the launch of Immutable zkEVM powered by Polygon.
What intrigues me most is the tokenomics.
$MATIC will serve as the “staking token,” while Immutable’s $IMX becomes the “core gas currency.” The competition to become the layer for mass adoption is intensifying. zkSync supports native account abstraction on the zkSync Era mainnet, offering all the advantages of AA wallets at the blockchain level. Similarly, StarkNet’s AA supports 2FA, improved payment options, and using any token as gas.
Safe
Next, Safe launched the Safe{Core} Account Abstraction SDK, making self-custody simple. Any dApp can integrate Safe to turn their application into a smart account. I also love their slogan: “Take back ownership.”
Finally
This is a compelling narrative to bring a new wave of users into the crypto world. We now have all the necessary tools, so I truly hope this narrative takes off.
The protocols that successfully achieve this will become the next Amazon, Facebook, or Apple.
I think terms like “account abstraction” or even “smart accounts” aren’t catchy enough to capture community interest.
Terms like “real yield” successfully draw attention to dApps that generate real returns through actual usage.
I genuinely hope there can be an equally powerful term to describe “account abstraction” that leads one billion people into crypto.
