The Ethereum Shanghai Web3.0 Developer Summit will be held "in the cloud" on May 20 across multiple online platforms. Dozens of influential figures from government, business, and academia, along with developer representatives and institutional leaders from both China and abroad, will attend this virtual summit.
On May 20, the Ethereum Shanghai Web3.0 Developer Summit (hereinafter referred to as the "Summit") will take place "in the cloud" across multiple online platforms. The Summit is jointly organized by the Ethereum Shanghai (ETH Shanghai) Organizing Committee, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "CBCGDF"), and Business China. Centered around the theme "The Impact of Web3.0 on the Future Landscape of the Internet," the Summit will bring together prominent guests from various fields—including policymakers, industry executives, and leading Web3.0 developers with significant influence—to explore future possibilities for internet technology development in China.

Since its inception, the Summit has received significant attention from key institutions at home and abroad and has sparked widespread interest within the developer community. In addition to strong support from Business China in event organization, the Summit has been included in the China Association for Science and Technology's Guide to Important Academic Conferences (2022), thanks to CBCGDF’s dedicated assistance—highlighting the association’s professional recognition of the Summit and its concern for current technological developments in the internet space.
Dozens of influential individuals from government, business, academia, developer communities, and relevant institutions will participate in this "cloud-based" summit. Keynote speeches during the main forum will feature distinguished speakers such as former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, Vitalik Buterin—co-founder of Ethereum—and Tin Pei Ling, Chief Executive Officer of Business China. Additionally, nearly ten industry leaders will engage in high-level roundtable discussions, sharing expert insights and exchanging views on critical topics including, but not limited to: global collaboration in Web3.0, applications and evolution of decentralized networks, new paradigms for international cooperation in the pandemic era, and the development, application, and underlying philosophical concepts of future internet infrastructure.
During the Summit, the Ethereum Shanghai Organizing Committee will also host a hackathon online from May 20 to June 3, open for registration to developers worldwide. As a parallel event of the Summit, this hackathon will emphasize the close relationship between internet development and social responsibility, focusing on pressing societal issues such as internet security, carbon neutrality goals, and environmental protection. Unconstrained by travel restrictions due to the pandemic, the event aims to connect top-tier developers globally via the cloud, fostering deep cross-border, cross-platform, and multilingual exchanges and collaborations toward a shared future for the internet in this era of borderless technology.
Since its launch in 2015, Ethereum (ETH) has undergone multiple upgrades and is now making a final push toward ETH 2.0. As the last major update in the transition from ETH 1.0 to ETH 2.0, Ethereum Shanghai has received sponsorship and strong support from the Ethereum Foundation. Since its founding, Ethereum Shanghai has been committed to encouraging more developers to join the Web3.0 development community, advancing the Ethereum network, and co-creating a better future for the internet. This Summit represents a significant step forward in Ethereum Shanghai’s mission to promote cross-disciplinary and international innovation and exchange in internet technology.
