Focusing on key themes such as Bitcoin East-West dialogue, scalability, and decentralized finance, it aims to provide attendees with a platform for deep insights into the current state and future development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Hong Kong time, May 11 — "Scaling Bitcoin Together" was successfully held in Hong Kong. This marks another innovative exploration journey into the Bitcoin ecosystem by ScaleBit (the blockchain security team under BitsLab), following April’s “Bitcoin Layer 2 Conference Hong Kong 2024 - East & West”.
This offline event featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and networking tea breaks, focusing on key themes such as East-West dialogue within the Bitcoin community, scalability, and decentralized finance (DeFi). It aimed to provide attendees with a platform for deep insights into the current state and future development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.




01 Recap
As an important satellite event of "Bitcoin Asia," this gathering attracted over 50 companies and institutions globally focused on innovation and growth in the Bitcoin ecosystem, along with more than 300 developers and enthusiasts. The event invited multiple core builders and technical experts as speakers and provided exhibition booths for outstanding projects. With six keynote sessions and three panel discussions, it fostered communication, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among participants in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
The event was co-hosted by ScaleBit, a blockchain security team dedicated to enabling Web3 mass adoption; Citrea, the first Rollup enhancing Bitcoin blockspace capacity through zero-knowledge technology; and Particle Network, a mobile-first, data-driven, composable Web3 development platform. 【Opening Remark】
In his opening remarks, Murat Karademir, Co-founder of Citrea, warmly welcomed all attendees and outlined the highlights and vision of the event, officially launching another innovative journey into the Bitcoin ecosystem.

【Keynote by BeL2】
Jonathan Hargreaves, Global Head of Growth Elastos / BeL2, delivered a keynote titled “BeL2 and Global Consensus - A Model for Scaling Bitcoin,” detailing BeL2’s vision, key features, architecture, and emphasizing critical aspects of BTC Loan.

【Keynote by ZKM】
Annie Zhao, Growth Lead at ZKM, presented on “Natively Extend BTC via ZKM - Entangled Rollup Network,” introducing ZKM across multiple dimensions including project achievements, vision, technical architecture, solutions, and roadmap, aiming to build a sustainable Bitcoin economy.

【Keynote by Citrea】
Orkun Mahir Kilic, Co-founder of Citrea, spoke about “Bitcoin as the Foundation of World’s Finance.” Starting from Bitcoin’s inherent characteristics, he introduced Citrea as Bitcoin’s first ZK Rollup and its notable features, sharing how developers can build high-speed orderbooks, AMMs, and liquidity markets on Citrea.

【Keynote by Lorenzo Protocol】
Matt Ye, CEO of Lorenzo Protocol, discussed “LORENZO - Bitcoin Liquidity Finance Layer.” Through an in-depth analysis of the Bitcoin Liquidity Finance Layer, he explained how complex financial products such as yield swap exchanges, lending protocols, and structured Bitcoin yield products could be built using Lorenzo LRTs. He also shared the project’s development roadmap.

【Keynote by ScaleBit】
Zorrot Chen, Blockchain Researcher at ScaleBit, presented “OpenTap: An Open Source Tapscript Lib,” highlighting that OpenTap is an open-source Bitcoin Script library whose significant advantages are demonstrated through its Tapscript Library and Integrated Demo. He gave a comprehensive technical overview of OpenTap, covering key concepts and operational principles.

【Special Announcement by Bitcoin Layers】
Janusz, Project Lead at Bitcoin Layers, delivered a talk titled “Bitcoin Isn’t Special,” starting from the current state of most Bitcoin L2s. He shared a comprehensive overview of the market matrix for Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions and valuable scaling strategies such as collaborative research and open-sourcing code.

【Closing Remark: ScaleBit】
In the closing remarks, Paul Li, Co-founder of ScaleBit, summarized the successful conclusion of the event, expressed gratitude to all attendees, and introduced ScaleBit — a blockchain security team under BitsLab focused on Bitcoin Layer 2, ZKP, and cross-chain applications.

【Panel: Bitcoin East & West】
Moderated by Nicole Liu, Founding Partner at Comma3 Ventures, this panel discussed “Bitcoin East & West,” exploring how the global Bitcoin community can collaborate to overcome fragmentation between Eastern and Western communities and supporters. Participants shared perspectives on advancing Bitcoin ecosystem development, the most pressing challenges builders face today, and recent market trends following a cooling period in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

The discussion delved into user identities and evolving trends in Bitcoin-based DeFi and applications, examined evaluation criteria for Bitcoin L2s and DeFi projects, and predicted the next major milestone or unlock in Bitcoin scaling.
