June 25, 2025 — Taiko, the first Based Rollup project on Ethereum, will host the "Based Rollup Summit" on July 1 in Cannes, France, bringing together core researchers, developers, and projects from the Ethereum ecosystem to explore the optimal future path for Ethereum scaling.
The summit will feature prominent guests including Ethereum researcher Justin Drake, co-lead of the Ethereum Foundation Tomasz Stańczak, and Celo Labs founder Marek Olszewksi.
"Today, Ethereum's rollup-centric roadmap has matured significantly, making it more critical than ever to build a robust and decentralized infrastructure," said Joaquin Mendes, COO of Taiko.
Following the successful debut summit hosted by Taiko in San Francisco earlier this year, the Cannes event is expected to attract over 600 developers, researchers, and protocol builders from across the Ethereum ecosystem.
Leading Ethereum-related projects will dive deep into topics such as Based Rollup sequencer design, preconfirmation mechanisms, and how Ethereum mainnet should position itself amid the continuous evolution of Layer 2 solutions.
Projects confirmed to speak include: Gattaca, ETHGas, SSV Network, OpenZeppelin, Avail, Nethermind, Luban, SNZ, Fabric/Commit Boost, Hashed, Starkware, Self, Boundless (Risc0), Zerobase, and other notable teams.
Attendees will jointly examine the latest trends in the Based Rollup ecosystem, with particular focus on the development and practical implementation of Taiko’s preconfirmation mechanism. For developers attending EthCC, this offers a unique opportunity to gain deeper insights into Based Rollup scaling solutions and the broader technological evolution of Ethereum.
As rollups evolve from simple L2 scaling tools into programmable, sovereign infrastructure layers, the Based Rollup Summit is emerging as a pivotal milestone in Ethereum's development journey—fostering not only intellectual exchange and collaboration, but also co-creating the future.
