On December 23, Binance announced the launch of its 63rd Launchpool project, Bio Protocol (BIO).
What is Bio Protocol?
BIO Protocol is a curation and liquidity protocol in the decentralized science (DeSci) field, initially funded by Binance Labs, aiming to support and resource scientific research projects and promote innovation in scientific research.
You can think of it as a "Y Combinator for on-chain science."
BIO Protocol includes core components such as BioDAO, curation systems, intellectual property (IP) tokenization and liquidity, and incentive mechanisms. Through multi-round auctions and airdrop programs, it has built a diverse and highly engaged community, laying the foundation for a decentralized biomedical research network.
Among these, the most important is BioDAO. BioDAO raises funds through token sales and uses those funds to support and develop biotech projects aligned with its mission, creating shared IP ownership among its members.
According to official website information, seven sub-DAOs have successfully launched, three are still in progress, collectively raising $23.5 million in funding and deploying $7.2 million in research capital.
Seven launched sub-DAOs:
- $VITA (VitaDAO): A group focused on funding early-stage longevity research, previously backed by Pfizer. During Devcon, VitaDAO showcased its first longevity product, VD001, a high-dose spermidine supplement approved by Thailand's Food and Drug Administration.
Notably, Paul Kohlhaas, co-founder of BIO Protocol, is also the founder and whitepaper author of VitaDAO.
- $ATH (AthenaDAO): Focused on women's reproductive health research and drug discovery.
- $GROW (ValleyDAO): A decentralized, community-governed platform dedicated to anti-aging drugs and life extension projects.
- $PSY (PsyDAO): Focused on psychedelic science research, completed its first PSY token sale in mid-November 2024, raising $2 million.
— HAIR (HairDAO): Aims to address hair loss issues and has launched Follicool shampoo, free of harmful parabens or sulfates. Consumers who purchase a bottle of FolliCool ($49.95) receive one million POO tokens.

pump.science: A Solana Foundation-sponsored DeSci funding platform
In September this year, the Solana Foundation granted funding to Molecule, a company led by the co-founders of BIO Protocol, to build pump.science—a DeSci funding platform based on Solana and built atop Pump.fun.
