This airdrop has already distributed over 10 million OP tokens to more than 54,000 distinct addresses. The team also stated that approximately 550 million OP tokens remain reserved for future airdrop events after the conclusion of this fifth round.
This latest OP airdrop came as a pleasant surprise to most "degen" users. As soon as the claim announcement dropped, various degen communities lit up with excitement. While the airdrop amount isn't exactly a "heaven-sent windfall" for most recipients, it still represents a generous reward—akin to a lavish pork knuckle rice meal—for genuine users:

Overview of Airdrop Rewards
According to official documentation, this airdrop distributed 10,368,678 OP tokens across 54,723 unique addresses. The general rules for this fifth OP token airdrop are as follows:

Addresses that interacted with fewer than 20 unique contracts are ineligible;

Addresses with a contract-to-transaction ratio below 10% are ineligible;

Addresses receiving less than the minimum threshold of 50 OP are ineligible;

Base reward cap is 150 OP;

Total reward cap is 3,500 OP.

Base Reward
The base reward targets users who, during the qualification period from March 15, 2024, to September 15, 2024, interacted with at least 20 distinct contracts on Superchain networks (including OP Mainnet, Base, Zora, Mode, Metal, Fraxtal, Cyber, Mint, Swan, Redstone, Lisk, Derive, BOB, Xterio, Polynomial, Race, and Orderly), and whose contract-to-transaction ratio (i.e., number of unique contracts interacted with divided by total transaction count) was at least 10%. The reward amount scales proportionally with network usage.
Bonus Rewards
Optimism divides bonus rewards into seven categories:

Active Delegator: During the qualification period (March 15, 2024 – September 15, 2024), total OP delegated multiplied by days delegated ≥ 9,000 days. 4,155 unique addresses qualified;

Frequent User: During the same period, completed at least 10 application transactions in at least 20 different weeks. 9,841 unique addresses qualified;

Superchain Explorer: During the qualification period, conducted at least one application transaction on at least 7 different chains within the Superchain. 10,336 unique addresses qualified;

Early Superchain Adopter: Within the first week after public mainnet launch of the Superchain, conducted at least one application transaction on at least 3 Superchain networks. 6,989 unique addresses qualified;

Quester: Completed at least one Optimism quest between September 20, 2022, and January 17, 2023. 14,113 unique addresses qualified;

SuperFest Participant: Participated in at least 5 SuperFest tasks between July 9, 2024, and September 3, 2024. 6,732 unique addresses qualified;

SUNNYs Fan: During the qualification period (March 15, 2024 – September 15, 2024), minted NFTs from at least 3 unique contracts registered under the SUNNYs program. 12,905 unique addresses qualified.

This unexpected OP airdrop holds significant implications for degen users. First, Optimism still reserves 550 million OP tokens for future airdrops. Therefore, thoroughly analyzing past airdrop rules could provide a strategic advantage in qualifying for the sixth round. Second, long-term active, high-quality accounts ("premium alts") will become increasingly crucial in future farming efforts.
