I Tested Huobi's "Feng Shui": Can the Eccentric Genius Save Huobi from Its Bad Luck?
"Huo Bi Bi Huo"!

"HuoBi Bi Huo!"
On November 22, Sun Yuchen, founder of TRON (affectionately known as "Brother Sun," though perhaps now better addressed as "Lord Sun"), made a splash at the Huobi Brand Upgrade Launch event in Singapore. He proudly announced that Huobi’s Chinese brand would be upgraded to “HuoBi,” while the international English brand Huobi Global would simply become “Huobi.” The official slogan was unveiled: "HuoBi Bi Huo, Xin Yi He Yi" ("HuoBi will surely thrive, unity of heart and purpose").
Yet, netizens seemed more interested in the feng shui mysticism behind the new name. They rushed to various online "feng shui calculators" to analyze the name "HuoBi." While feedback varied widely, people clearly enjoyed sharing the negative takes more: "Oh no, the feng shui of 'HuoBi' is terrible—it foretells great misfortune."

Note the final sentence: "This truly signifies the greatest misfortune in life, but there are exceptions—eccentric geniuses, scholars, great men, and the ultra-wealthy may transcend this fate."
Upon closer inspection, observers spotted the twist: Isn't the "eccentric genius" or "ultra-wealthy" figure who can overcome such misfortune exactly Brother Sun? Who in crypto is stranger or richer than him?
HuoBi's bad luck? Brother Sun is your breakthrough.
Of course, casually checking company names on random websites isn’t particularly rigorous. So, adopting a more serious approach, I personified HuoBi and commissioned a professional ISAR-certified astrologer to cast a natal chart for HuoBi using the launch time—2:00 PM on November 22, 2022—in Singapore.

“HuoBi?” The master paused, then offered an interpretation:
The Sun at 29 degrees Scorpio has mastered the most mature aspects of Scorpio energy and already carries traits of Sagittarius. Overall, we see a stellium of Sun, Venus, and Mercury in the 9th House of Sagittarius. The Ascendant falls in Pisces, with its ruling planet Jupiter located in the 1st House, further amplifying the Jupiter-Sagittarius-9th House axis (Jupiter naturally rules both Sagittarius and the 9th House). The Sun, Pluto, and Jupiter form a midpoint trine, with the Sun and Jupiter jointly uplifting the apex planet Pluto.
Individuals with strong Jupiter energy are inherently lucky. Jupiter symbolizes innate resources, good fortune—especially financial prosperity and success abroad. As a light and expansive planet, however, this luck often comes with unconscious arrogance. The upside: confident, proud individuals who habitually expand their territory and seize resources tend to actually accumulate abundant wealth and enjoy support from those around them. The downside: they easily grow blindly self-important and overly optimistic during development. Significant setbacks are often required for growth, and they rarely look inward when problems arise.
Astrologically speaking, HuoBi’s future looks “financially prosperous and acquisitive,” yet it also risks “falling due to blind arrogance.”
Returning to official statements, the newly branded "HuoBi"—formed by the Chinese characters for "fire" and "must"—is said to carry deep cultural significance and positive symbolism.
In Chinese culture, "huo" (火) represents enduring vitality and the transmission of this energy across generations. "Bi" (必) conveys determination of inevitable victory—reflecting HuoBi’s ambition to return to the top three in the industry. Additionally, "bi" can be interpreted as composed of the characters for "heart" (心) and "righteousness" (义).
The author also interviewed several industry insiders and major Huobi clients to gather their perspectives.
Andy, a major Huobi client, expressed strong optimism about HuoBi’s future: “For the original Huobi, policy changes and poor personnel decisions led to its decline. By the time of acquisition, Huobi had hit rock bottom. Since then, it's been rebounding. Rebranding is itself a positive signal for the current exchange.”
Andy elaborated with three key reasons:
-
First, a large portion of the original Huobi users were forcibly removed last year. Many have said they still prefer using the HuoBi app—the user base remains solid, offering significant growth potential.
-
Second, the current team and most employees are based overseas, giving them greater operational flexibility.
-
Lastly, management-wise, having Brother Sun personally leading the front lines suggests things won’t go too badly.
Still, skepticism remains. Some remain doubtful about HuoBi’s prospects.
“The exchange industry is undergoing major consolidation. Binance is overwhelmingly dominant, leaving little room for smaller and mid-sized platforms. Trust in centralized exchanges is eroding, and users are gradually shifting assets and trading activity toward decentralized wallets and DEXs. It will be extremely difficult for HuoBi to rebuild momentum,” said a former exchange industry professional.
In summary, the newborn HuoBi will inevitably face challenges and so-called “bad luck,” even public mockery. But for Brother Sun—a man who has weathered storms and defied norms—an eccentric genius in his own right—there may be reason for cautious hope. Let’s see how much ground this marketing prodigy can capture.
