Will Revolving, building games on Polygon, become the Web3 R*?
"As the world transitions from developer-owned ecosystems to player-owned ecosystems, Revolving Games will be at the forefront of this evolution, while continuing to release games that compete with the best in the traditional video game industry."

Revolving Games is a Web3-native game studio focused on building immersive, valuable, and scalable gaming experiences. The company recently raised $25 million in funding led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Animoca Brands, Dapper Labs, Polygon, and others.
Gaming is one of the most exciting, creative, and rapidly evolving areas within Web3. With growing interest around play-to-earn (P2E), many Web2 gamers have begun transitioning to Web3 games due to the autonomy and economic benefits they offer. The ability to earn while playing attracts broader user bases and keeps players engaged over longer periods.
Blockchain gaming also serves as a lower-risk—and more fun—gateway for gamers less familiar with crypto to enter Web3. This trend is already evident: DappRadar recently reported that in July 2022, gaming dApps accounted for 60% of blockchain traffic. While other sectors of the crypto industry have suffered losses in recent months, Web3 gaming has shown incredible resilience and even growth during this period. Blockchain games typically involve less financial risk than other crypto sectors, and many Web3 concepts are abstracted away, making the space highly appealing to users during economic downturns.
Games in Development
Revolving Games focuses on creating social, engaging, and enduring games that advance the Web3 gaming ecosystem.
The team intentionally combines specific game mechanics from Web2 (free-to-play) and Web3 (ownership, autonomy, and trading), uniquely designing their games at the intersection of both worlds.
In June this year, the company partnered with Gala Games and NBCUniversal to announce its first game—Battlestar Galactica Eternity. Drawing from its free-to-play roots, Revolving Games is adopting a hybrid monetization model: consumables will be sold via fiat (traditional in-app purchases), while NFTs and virtual land will be offered on-chain.
The game will launch across all major platforms, including mobile. Battlestar Galactica Eternity is currently in development and is expected to release in Q4 2023—with more details to be unveiled next quarter.

In October, Revolving Games announced its next title, Skyborne Legacy—a massively multiplayer online (MMO) role-playing game (RPG) built on Polygon.
Skyborne has gained strong momentum so far: within three days of the announcement, its Discord community grew to over 10,000 members and its Twitter following surpassed 2,000.
Inspired by iconic Nintendo titles such as Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda, players can explore the world socially, trade artifacts, and build within biomes and islands in the game.
The team behind the game consists of seasoned veterans from the gaming industry who previously worked on Star Trek, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

For its upcoming smaller web-based game, Revolving Games is designing a lightweight, accessible experience where players can stake NFTs to earn in-game rewards after Skyborne Legacy launches. The target release window for this game is Q3 2023.
A Team of Gaming Veterans
Revolving Games was co-founded by brothers Saad, Ammar, and Shayan Zaeem. The trio previously founded game development studio Caramel Tech Studios, and Saad and Shayan also co-founded cloud chat service Fizz.io.
Saad, Ammar, and Shayan collectively bring decades of experience in building and scaling technology and entertainment products and teams. Revolving Games now has over 120 people spanning production, engineering, design, product, art, community, and marketing. Many team members have spent years developing products in gaming, entertainment, and/or tech. Dan Houser, game designer and co-founder of Rockstar Games—the studio behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption—recently joined as an advisor and investor.
In total, the team has developed numerous hit games that have generated over $3 billion in revenue.

Conclusion
As more Web3 games are being built, it's critical to prioritize the player experience. “As the world shifts from developer-owned ecosystems to player-owned ones, Revolving Games will be at the forefront of this evolution, continuing to release games that compete with the best in the traditional video game industry,” said Saad.
It’s exciting to see teams like Revolving Games setting new standards for design and quality in immersive Web3 gaming, and helping Web2 players transition into Web3.
