TechFlow - The world's first GaaS platform, Game Space, launches, ushering the gaming industry into the one-click blockchain integration era
Game Space: The world's first platform offering GaaS (GameFi as a Service).
According to bitcoin.com, on April 22, Game Space, the world's first platform offering GameFi as a Service (GaaS), officially launched and announced over $7 million in funding from top-tier venture capital funds, publicly listed gaming companies, and cryptocurrency exchanges.
Game Space provides one-stop GameFi solutions for large game developers, featuring an easy-to-integrate SDK and an embeddable NFT trading engine that can shorten a GameFi project’s time to launch by up to six months—significantly lowering the barrier for traditional game studios entering Web3.
Michael Cameron, CEO of Game Space, stated that the company will focus on developing the GameFi ecosystem over the next five years, continuously iterating its GaaS offerings to help traditional game studios rapidly acquire enterprise-grade capabilities in NFT development, management, and security.
Cameron also noted that the newly launched GaaS platform has been under development for more than one year. The new funding will support further R&D of the GaaS platform and related applications, including Phase II of the NFT trading engine, multi-chain deployment, enterprise-level NFT management dashboard, game DAO components, and cross-game NFTs. This month, Game Space will launch Merge Bird, its first blockchain-remastered classic game. Game Space is now open for public beta applications, and game studios can apply for testing partnerships at https://game.space.
One-Click GameFi Transformation for Game Studios
According to DappRadar, global VC investment in GameFi reached a record $4 billion in 2021, up from just $80 million in 2020—a 50-fold increase. GameFi has also attracted a large number of users from the traditional world, with over half of all blockchain activity coming from gaming users.
Through GameFi, cryptocurrencies, Play-to-Earn, NFTs, DeFi, and the metaverse have converged into a thriving industry.Whether it's metaverse games like Sandbox and Decentraland, or X-to-Earn models like Axie Infinity and the community sensation STEPN this year, they’ve gained significant attention across user growth and token performance.
On the other hand, the blockchain gaming industry still faces many challenges. Some public chains need performance improvements to deliver better user experiences, and certain blockchain games have failed to resonate with mainstream gamers. While many AAA studios have experimented with blockchain gaming, few mature products have emerged.
Game Space aims to address these challenges. Previously, the biggest hurdle for traditional game studios entering Web3 was the widespread lack of blockchain development talent. Smart contract development poses technical barriers, and there remains a severe shortage of skilled professionals relative to market demand, making it difficult and costly for most studios to quickly assemble an experienced blockchain team.
Game Space believes GaaS is one of the next stages in blockchain evolution.By commercializing complex blockchain features and services, Game Space enables studios to focus on application-level development via its enterprise-grade GaaS management dashboard—without needing to build their own GameFi infrastructure—allowing rapid deployment of ready-made GameFi games.
For example, in the current public beta release, Game Space offers an embedded in-game marketplace for NFT trading, supports one-click GameFi deployment, and is compatible with iOS, Android, and web platforms. Game Space has also innovatively introduced a one-click multi-chain deployment solution, enabling GameFi projects to quickly launch across major public chains including BSC, ETH, SOL, and POLYGON.
Additionally, based on standard GaaS platform services, game operators can select various online configurations and code functionalities according to their product and business needs, extending developer-customizable features to meet personalized requirements and enhance flexibility—such as easily issuing game NFTs through blind boxes, airdrops, listings, and more.
Cameron revealed that beyond developing the GaaS platform and associated mobile apps, the new funding will enable Game Space to execute strategic collaborations with major global game studios and further reduce entry barriers into the blockchain and Web3 industries, thereby driving broader prosperity across the GameFi and NFT ecosystems.
Multiple Major Titles to Launch in Second Half of Year
This month, Game Space will launch its first remastered classic game, Merge Bird. The game includes GS SDK and the Game Space app (wallet + NFT marketplace). It uses the GaaS SDK to generate and manage NFTs, while players use the Game Space app to seamlessly manage and trade in-game assets.
Merge Bird is a blockchain remake of the once-viral game Flappy Bird. On the 10th anniversary of Flappy Bird’s creation, Game Space chose it as a tribute for its inaugural remastered title.
It is reported that Game Space has signed strategic partnerships with multiple publicly listed game companies, and several AAA titles are already in testing phases for integration with Game Space’s GaaS platform. These games boast tens of millions of players across Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, and South America. The blockchain versions of these titles are expected to complete remastering and be gradually released in the second half of 2022.
