Steve Wozniak, who co-founded Apple in 1976 in Steve Jobs' parents' garage, is now launching his second company, 45 years later.
According to a statement released on Friday, Wozniak announced the launch of Efforce, a new venture in green technology and blockchain.
Efforce has been operating in stealth mode for nearly a year. It is a marketplace that provides financing for energy efficiency projects for businesses or industrial property owners.
As stated officially by Efforce, "investors can participate in energy efficiency projects by purchasing tokenized future savings," while companies benefit from these improvements at no upfront cost. Using blockchain, "smart contracts redistribute the resulting savings to token holders and the company directly, without intermediaries, based on precise consumption/savings data."
"Global energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are growing exponentially, leading to climate change and extreme environmental consequences. We can improve our energy footprint and reduce energy use without changing our habits. Simply by making more energy-efficient upgrades, we can save the environment," he said in a statement about the company.
Thus, Wozniak created Efforce—the first decentralized platform enabling everyone to participate in energy efficiency projects worldwide, gain economic benefits, and drive meaningful environmental change.
According to an article on Medium introducing the company, its cryptocurrency token launched on December 3 on the HBTC digital currency exchange under the ticker WOZX, and will be listed on Bithumb Global next week.
At the time of writing, WOZX tokens on HBTC were trading at $1.06, up 12.2% over 24 hours.
"In these difficult times, many small businesses are struggling. They lack the resources to switch to LED lighting, streamline production processes, or even insulate buildings to save on heating—all of which could save them money in the long run," said Jacopo Visetti, Project Lead and Co-founder of Efforce, in a statement.
"Efforce allows business owners to securely register their energy upgrade projects on the network and receive funding from various investors around the world. This frees up cash flow for other critical initiatives such as infrastructure investments or hiring," Visetti said.
According to official materials, this alignment of interests creates a win-win ecosystem for all parties involved, positioning Efforce to enter a $250 billion market with feasible annual growth of 10%, driving meaningful environmental impact for the future.
Steve Wozniak, full name Stephen Gary Wozniak, is an American computer engineer who co-founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs. In the mid-1970s, Wozniak designed the first-generation Apple I and the highly successful Apple II computers. The widespread popularity of the Apple II made it the best-selling personal computer of the 1970s and early 1980s, earning him recognition as the engineer who brought computers into everyday households.
Today, Apple Inc. has a market capitalization exceeding $2 trillion.
