Data Overview of the MEME Universe: "Golden Dog" One in a Million, Frog Series Leads in Liquidity
A sufficiently deep funding pool has secured the Frog ecosystem a place at the table.

MEME coins have become a significant hallmark of the crypto world, filled with tales of wealth and shifting hot topics. On the other hand, as large amounts of capital flood in, MEME culture has grown increasingly complex—hype angles have even shifted from internet trends to various abstract subcultures. For many aspiring to uncover wealth-generating secrets in this market, the learning curve now feels epic.
Despite their enduring popularity, the MEME sector still lacks macro-level analytical tools to assess overall development. People seem more obsessed with the thrill of PVP (player versus player) battles than reflecting on which types of MEMEs are more likely to succeed, or what characteristics top-tier MEMEs share.
PANews uses comprehensive MEME data to reveal the truth behind leading MEME projects.

Dog-Themed MEMEs Emerge as Ultimate Winners
As of November 21, there are 32 MEME coins on Solana with market capitalizations exceeding $100 million. The highest-valued among them is BONK, a dog-themed token launched in 2023.
PANews categorizes these tokens into the following groups: Crypto-native (originating within crypto culture), Frog series (similar to PEPE), Cat series, Dog series, Internet trends (originating from TikTok or other social media phenomena), AI, and DeSci.
By this classification, among MEME coins exceeding $100 million in market cap, Internet trend-based and Cat-themed tokens are the most numerous, with 8 and 7 respectively. AI-themed tokens number 6. However, in terms of total market value, Dog-themed MEMEs lead by far, reaching a combined market cap of $7.206 billion—accounting for 42% of the total.

Cat-themed tokens have a total market cap of approximately $3.224 billion. From this perspective, the "cat vs. dog" rivalry currently favors dog-themed projects.
AI Sparks a "October Revolution" in MEMEs
Beyond market cap comparisons, analyzing launch timelines reveals broader market trends. The chart below compares issuance dates of all MEME tokens valued above $100 million. Clear thematic preferences emerge across different periods.
Dog-themed tokens were the earliest successful category on Solana, nearly all launched in 2023. From November 2023 until today—nearly a year later—three dog-themed MEMEs still maintain market caps over $100 million. BONK leads with a valuation approaching $4 billion, making it the top MEME on Solana, followed by $WIF in second place. Clearly, dog-themed content remains the most popular inspiration in the MEME world.

Cat-themed tokens emerged later than dog-themed ones but maintained momentum through September, consistently producing new breakout stars. Overall, April to May was essentially the "era of cats" on Solana. In terms of average market cap, cat-themed tokens rank second at $1.295 billion per project, just behind dogs. This further confirms that both cats and dogs remain dominant winners on Solana.
October marked the peak of MEME activity on Solana—the month saw the highest number of new $100M+ market cap launches, with 11 such tokens emerging. AI-themed and internet trend-based projects dominated this period. Notable examples include MOODENG (internet trend) and GOAT (AI).
In the broader bullish crypto market of November, while MEME themes rotated rapidly, no single narrative gained strong traction. Only three newly launched tokens reached $100 million market cap, again primarily from AI and internet trend categories. Despite recent hype around DeSci, only one token, $RIF, surpassed $100 million. The standout in November was undoubtedly Pnut, which became the youngest billion-dollar market cap token, propelled by endorsements from Musk and Binance.
Looking at the timeline overall, the highest-valued MEMEs on Solana are still predominantly early entrants. Among the top ten, only Pnut was launched less than a month ago. This suggests that leading projects often require time to build community consensus.
Deep Liquidity Pools Secure a Place for Frog-Themed MEMEs
When investigating why certain tokens sustain market caps above $100 million, PANews identified some unique patterns. Despite low overall market cap and social media buzz, frog-themed tokens occupy three spots among the $100M+ club.
Analyzing liquidity pool sizes reveals that frog-themed tokens boast the largest pools: the three together exceed all other categories with a total of $179 million. Each averages $59.9 million in liquidity, representing an average liquidity-to-market-cap ratio of 11.53%. Such deep liquidity may indicate sustained institutional interest. In contrast, AI-themed tokens (excluding DeSci) show the thinnest liquidity, averaging only $7.03 million per project, with a liquidity-to-market-cap ratio of just 1.49%. This level of liquidity may struggle to support long-term price stability. Currently, the AI space appears to be in a competitive "warlord era," where major capital has yet to commit substantial liquidity.

Only One in 6,000 Reaches $100M “Golden Dog” Status
How many tokens actually break out to become true MEME goldmines? As of November 21, Pump.fun had issued 3.59 million tokens—a volume far surpassing the total number of crypto tokens launched over the past decade. Of these, 50,389 graduated (reached full pump and listed on Raydium), representing about 1.4%. Only 32 achieved a market cap over $100 million.
There are 154 MEMEs valued between $10 million and $100 million—a success rate of approximately 0.00089%, less than one in 100,000. This accounts for roughly one in 6,000 of all graduated projects. There are 396 tokens valued between $1 million and $10 million, representing 0.79% of graduated projects; 150 tokens fall between $10 million and $100 million, or 0.29% of graduates.
These figures suggest that discovering a profitable "wealth code" is akin to winning the lottery—though still slightly better odds than a typical lottery jackpot (about 1 in 17.72 million). No wonder the crypto community refers to MEME investing as lottery-style gambling.
Beyond Solana: Which Other Blockchains Are MEME Hotspots?

In popular memory, Ethereum and BSC were once the primary playgrounds for MEMEs. Current data shows that beyond Solana, Base chain is quietly gaining momentum.
In terms of quantity, Base hosts 121 MEMEs valued between $1 million and $10 million—second only to Solana. BSC is more concentrated in the $10M–$100M range, serving as a hub for mid-tier MEMEs. Ethereum remains the second-largest home for elite MEMEs after Solana, hosting 16 tokens above $100 million. The highest-valued among them is PEPE, with a market cap of $8.74 billion—the highest among the chains analyzed here (DOGE and SHIB excluded). Overall, on CoinGecko, 11 of the top 100 market cap cryptocurrencies are MEMEs.
To enable deeper discussion on MEME development and methodologies, PANews will release a series of in-depth reports analyzing on-chain holdings data for leading projects across different MEME categories.
Did these golden MEMEs involve significant insider allocations ("rat farming")? How long did early holders retain their chips? At what points did whales accumulate? We aim to use data to uncover the financial truths behind these MEMEs. Stay tuned!
