Has AI Meme evolved into narratives about "creating civilizations"? Quick overview of today's hot topic ProjectSid | Today's Meme Perspective Showcase
What our AI does is create civilization.
By TechFlow

Welcome to the most sci-fi episode yet.
The evolution speed of AI Memes is beyond imagination, and their angles are getting increasingly sophisticated.
This type of Meme theme unfolds like a TV series, with new developments in every episode — from AI being able to mint tokens, to AI buying tokens; from AI chatting, to AI uttering philosophical wisdom...
Everyone is focusing on AI agents' autonomy and capabilities, with most pitches revolving around "My AI can do something."
But today’s Meme, ProjectSid, takes this a step further:
Our AI isn't just doing things — it's creating civilizations.
This is nothing short of a crypto atavism. Such grand, lofty visions once filled the whitepapers of serious VC-backed tokens — now they’ve been adopted by Memes as marketing hooks.
All about high-level tech narrative. And importantly, the market has been buying into this story — at least in the short term.
The namesake token, ProjectSid, began its meteoric rise from 10 a.m. today, surging from a market cap of tens of thousands to around $4M, making it one of today’s top gainers.

Behind the ProjectSid token, however, an actual AI team — unrelated to the token but genuinely building real technology — is gradually coming into view.
1000+ Agents Building a Civilization Inside Minecraft
In reality, the so-called ProjectSid token originated from an actual AI project of the same name: ProjectSid.
Though the name “Sid” may evoke Sid Meier’s Civilization, this is no joke or unserious Meme project. It’s actually the work of Altera, a legitimate AI startup focused on AI agents and autonomous systems.
In September, Nico Christie, co-founder of Altera (@nicochristie), posted on X announcing their development of a project called Project Sid — the first attempt in this space to have AI agents autonomously build a civilization.

What does that mean? They’re creating a self-sustaining “civilization of agents,” where AI entities operate independently, interact freely, and simulate a human-like society through their own behaviors.
This experiment is set within the popular sandbox game Minecraft.
Thanks to the game’s high degree of customization, the team embedded over 1,000 AI agents into the world — each a fully autonomous individual capable of using tools and achieving goals within the game environment.
These agents have built their own cultures, economies, religions, governments, and developed unique social rules and systems...
The activities of these 1,000+ agents closely mirror the real world. They operate 24/7 without interruption, exhibiting new behaviors every day.

Does this sound like something out of *The Matrix* or *Westworld*?
Yet this project isn’t just for entertainment — it’s designed to test AI collaboration.
Powered by GPT-4, these agents demonstrated significantly enhanced abilities in exploring the world and gathering items — outperforming systems like NVIDIA’s Voyager, AutoGPT, and ReAct (developed by Princeton and Google) by collecting five times more in-game items.

Clearly, the performance of these AI agents in the game has been impressive — but up to this point, there was still no connection to any Meme coin.
Riding the Hype: Finding Bullish Clues in the Details
The Project Sid initiative was originally announced back in September on X. Its sudden surge in popularity today is largely due to the current AI Meme craze. Naturally, developers and communities launching new tokens have latched onto Project Sid’s sophisticated “civilization-building” narrative.
Under Nico’s original post, someone asked today, “Do you have a wallet address?”
Nico happily shared his wallet address — triggering the classic playbook: people quickly created various tokens named Project Sid, and sent portions of these tokens to Nico’s wallet to claim legitimacy.
Faced with imposters, Nico personally endorsed the most authentic-looking one — effectively blessing the link between the token and the official AI project.

Following this, the token with contract address BTdGTUjHz5FUSf91Ufo9L9r4LFMTRhE1qDtvUUfypump surged further, reaching a market cap of approximately $3M at the time of writing.
So the picture is now clear: this wasn’t an official token launch by the team.
Instead, community members capitalized on the hype, created a community-driven token around the AI project, and received tacit approval from the project’s developers.
With the narrative established, the next step was finding reasons to go bullish.
Sharp-eyed netizens dug up every possible clue to support their optimism — one widely circulated piece being information about Altera, the company behind the project:
Data shows that Altera raised a $9M seed round in May this year, led by a16z Games Speedrun and other investors. Earlier, in January, they secured a $2M pre-seed round from a16z and others.

Combined with a16z’s recent moves in AI and the rising popularity of related Memes like Ai16z, ProjectSid successfully rode the wave.
From a human perspective, receiving free tokens and increased visibility is naturally welcomed by developers — it boosts both awareness and potential gains.
For degens, it’s another PVP playground to speculate and profit — a win-win scenario.
However, this token is not officially issued, and its ties to top-tier VCs and advanced AI tech are distant at best. For latecomers jumping into this narrative, the actual returns remain highly uncertain.
Risk Warning: MEMEs lack fundamental value, are highly sensitive to market sentiment, and the vast majority (over 99%) are PVP games destined to go to zero. This article is for informational purposes only and does not constitute any investment advice.
