Navigating Web3 tides with focused insightsThe BNB Chain Fusion marks a significant strategic shift focused on transferring the functions of the Beacon Chain to the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) and ultimately phasing out the Beacon Chain. This approach aims to streamline the network, improve efficiency, reduce security risks, and ensure that the BNB Chain's architecture aligns with current technological requirements and future scalability plans.
The following discussion outlines the roadmap for BNB Chain Fusion to ensure a smooth transition for the BNB Chain community:
January 2024 marked the initial preparation phase by the core team, including notifying BEP2/BEP8 asset issuers, wallets, staking pools and validators, CEXs, and users about upcoming changes such as asset binding, disabling atomic swaps, and withdrawals to BSC.
Phase One begins in April 2024, when validators will migrate to new validators on BSC, and delegators will transfer their stakes to BSC using cross-chain re-delegation. In addition, staking pools will introduce new staking applications to facilitate this process.
June 2024 will enter the auto-refund phase, during which users will be able to view their auto-refunded asset balances.
Late June 2024 will mark the final sunset—users will verify after the core team generates and publishes the balance dump.
By July 2024, the BNB Chain Fusion will be completed. The core team will provide a token migration application to help users recover funds remaining on the archived Beacon Chain.
The roles and actions of various stakeholders listed—such as BEP2/BEP8 token issuers, atomic swap projects, CEXs, validators, delegators, and wallets—outline the activities required for a successful migration. These steps are critical to preventing token loss, maintaining revenue streams, and ensuring the continued functionality of the many services provided by BNB Chain.
