Modular L1 Initia and Ecosystem Project Outlook
Initia provides a complete technology and user product stack to streamline the experience for both users and developers.

Initia
Overview
Initia is a modular Rollup-integrated Layer 1 blockchain project founded by former LUNA team members, aiming to eliminate the fragmented experience of multi-chain systems through vertical integration of its technology stack. The project leverages the Cosmos SDK and Celestia's data availability layer (DA), with plans to launch its incentivized testnet in Q1 2024.
Funding Information
Initia recently completed a $7.5 million seed round co-led by Delphi Ventures and Hack VC, with participation from Nascent, Figment Capital, A.Capital, BigBrain Holdings, and others. Angel investors include prominent figures in the crypto space such as Cobie, DCF GOD, and Zaheer Ebtikar.
Technical Architecture
Initia’s core technical architecture consists of a Layer 1 blockchain and an VM-agnostic Optimistic Rollup framework (OPinit Stack). This architecture aims to deliver a seamless modular network system by coordinating security, liquidity, routing, and interoperability. The OPinit Stack features fraud proofs and rollback capabilities, enabling secure scaling for Cosmos SDK-based Rollups on EVM, MoveVM, or WasmVM.
Key Technical Features
-
Optimistic Rollup: Uses Optimistic Rollup instead of sovereign Rollup to reduce fragmentation and enhance interoperability.
-
Enshrined Liquidity: Enhances security and liquidity by embedding a liquidity hub directly into the L1 chain, supporting token swaps across L2s.
-
Shared Infrastructure Layer: Provides core infrastructure such as indexers, oracles, block explorers, and interoperability tools, allowing developers to seamlessly launch new Rollups.
Product Features
Initia offers a complete suite of technical and user-facing products designed to simplify the experience for both users and developers, including:
-
InitiaScan: A seamless multi-chain explorer system with VM-specific tools and information.
-
Wallet Widget: Enables EVM and Cosmos wallet signing via in-app social login.
-
Bridget: A frontend bridge/portal that aggregates directly into rollups.
-
Initia App: The home for everything Initia.
-
Initia Username: Omnitia’s on-chain identity system.
-
Initia Wallet: A wallet built specifically for navigating Omnitia.
Development Team
The Initia team comprises several developers with extensive experience in the Cosmos, Terra, and Ethereum ecosystems. Core members include:
-
Zon: Former smart contract developer at Terraform Labs.
-
Stan Liu: Former MEV researcher at Terraform Labs.
The team also includes developers and product managers with rich experience at FAANG companies and top quantitative firms.
Future Outlook
Initia is currently operating on a closed testnet, with plans to launch its incentivized testnet in Q1 2024 and its mainnet in Q2. The team will use the newly raised funds to expand the team and grow the Initia ecosystem, aiming to build an Apple-like ecosystem within the blockchain space.
Ecosystem Projects

Initia’s public testnet will go live in a few weeks, forming a new ecosystem centered around Initia:
The main ecosystem projects are as follows:

1. Blackwing
A modular blockchain enabling leveraged trading of long-tail assets without liquidation risk, using a novel structure called "Infinite Pool." By leveraging recent advances in modular infrastructure and using Initia as its base, once traders deposit funds into Blackwing, they can trade assets across any modular application chain without transferring funds across different networks—significantly reducing costs and improving security.
On March 7, it raised $4.5 million in a funding round led by Hashed and Gumi Cryptos.
The official website has a registration portal for future airdrops.
TVL: $30M
2. Tucananetwork
An intent-centric liquidity layer, DEX, and trader-optimized L2 network. Built to unify trading across all modular networks, Tucana is underpinned by Rollups interwoven with Initia and Celestia. With full access to limit orders, market orders, and perpetual contracts, Tucana serves as a one-stop shop for trading in a modular future.

3. Controrg
GLOB progressive limit order system, initially targeting prediction markets to enable fair on-chain betting. Also built by former Luna protocol developers who have transitioned to Initia.
4. MilkyWay
A liquid staking solution for the Celestia ecosystem, initially deployed and running on Osmosis, with long-term plans to migrate to Celestia’s Rollkit for native milkTIA issuance. When users stake their TIA tokens on MilkyWay, they receive milkTIA—an on-chain representation of their staked TIA position—enabling Celestia token holders to gain liquidity on their staked assets, which can then be traded or used as collateral in various DeFi applications.
On April 30, it announced a $5 million raise co-led by Binance Labs and Polychain Capital.
The mPoints rewards program is in its fourth week, distributing 10% of $MILK to points earners.
5. Lunch App
Lunch is a Web3 gateway that combines a consumer-focused mobile app with interconnected rollups from @initiaFDN. Initially, Lunch will serve as a Web3 event hub and payment app, with more products (e.g., RWA) coming soon.
6. Civitia
What is Civitia? A gamified SocialFi dApp where users compete with other players to acquire cities and earn rewards. Collaborate within the community to develop your own social and financial strategies.

Tony, a renowned analyst at XT Research Institute, stated:
"Recently, market volume has noticeably shrunk and trading sentiment remains low. In such a cooling market environment, focused research on specific sectors becomes especially important. Initia, with its innovative modular Rollup-integrated Layer 1 architecture and robust tech stack, is poised to occupy a significant position in the blockchain ecosystem. Its unique Enshrined Liquidity mechanism and shared infrastructure layer offer developers and users a seamless and efficient experience. With the upcoming launch of its incentivized testnet and mainnet, Initia is expected to attract more developers and users, driving growth across its entire ecosystem."
