A Brief Analysis of the Technology, Community, and Future Development Trends in the Inscriptions Sector
Looking across the entire inscriptions sector, beneath the waning enthusiasm, many are still pressing forward under heavy burdens.
The previous article briefly shared my personal thoughts and outlook on the future trend of eths in the inscription space. Fortunately, after the article was published, along with the launch of the official trading market, the price of eths rose sharply as expected—from a low of 100u to a peak of 700u per card (1,000 tokens per card).
Today’s article focuses on sharing some of my personal reflections on the future of the inscription sector.
I'm ALD (@Daji_357), a Web3 content creator passionate about psychology and communication. I’ve been fortunate enough to achieve multiple triple-digit returns across sectors including GameFi, inscriptions, and early-stage markets.
Currently, there are several things I’m closely watching in the inscription market:
-
The spontaneous emergence of a "fictitious rivalry" between BRC20 and eths among different community members
-
The attitudes and actions of B2B entities (here referring broadly to centralized platforms) toward eths and BRC20
On the "Fictitious Rivalry" Phenomenon
With the recent surge in popularity of eths, while gathering fragmented information on Twitter, I often come across content that frames "eths" and "ordi" as rivals. Some mildly mock the fading momentum of BRC20; others go further, hoping for an all-out war between the two. More balanced voices compare the drawbacks of ordi with the advantages of eths.
In my humble opinion: they share the same roots—why such hostility?
As I mentioned before, when investing in any project, we must analyze it objectively from multiple angles—that's how we protect our capital. Any one-sided, subjective judgment can put funds at irreversible risk.
When writing the last article, I also reflected on the comparison between ordi and eths. Here is the thought process I had at that time.
「Capital Activity」
At this moment, cryptocurrency movements largely depend on BTC's performance—but currently, the battlefield belongs to ETH.
Whether Base or other L2s, there's no denying that retail capital is actively concentrating and circulating within the ETH ecosystem.
In terms of capital activity, eths currently holds a geographical advantage over BRC20. In contrast, during bear markets, smart whales tend to play it safe on BTC—let alone backing new projects. Buying ETH could even be seen by some as disrespect toward BTC (not representing everyone).
But this is just one factor among many. If this single factor determined dominance, BTC would have already been surpassed by ETH long ago.
「Technical DNA」
The fundamental technical differences between BTC and ETH have already shaped their divergent development paths. It’s like comparing science students to liberal arts students—each has strengths, but they aren’t directly competitive.
As a newcomer, eths has almost fully leveraged ETH’s technical advantages, enabling rapid implementation of features in a short time.
(Compared to BRC20, progress has been fast. I see many people pushing for faster tech rollouts, but remember—code must be written line by line. You can't just say “code, come forth!” and expect your keyboard to type itself. Especially when real money is involved, everything must be handled with extreme caution.)
This is the advantage of timing.
「Community Vibe」
The eths community is one of the highest-quality communities I've seen so far. Many OGs from the BRC20 scene are visibly participating. Learning from past mistakes, they’re efficiently utilizing online resources. Even the founder has become a street vendor grilling skewers in Zibo—no free rides here, everyone’s grinding. This represents harmony among people.
Based on these considerations, I concluded the growth trajectory of eths discussed in the previous article. Simply put, at this stage, BTC lacks the narrative richness that ETH currently enjoys.
That said, BRC20 isn’t without merit. As the original bearer of a novel narrative, it faces long-term technical development challenges. The longer it takes, the greater its potential breakout.
Conversely, ordi’s recent decline stems from various factors—but in my view, this is a healthy path, simply ahead of its time. If ordi were to drop to zero, wouldn’t eths be affected too?
Let’s rationally acknowledge their differences—allowing liberal arts students to struggle with math, and science students to misunderstand classical Chinese. This is respect for the nature of things.
Therefore, for now and the near future, the ETH ecosystem may hold a technical edge—but we must objectively consider both time and space.
Who will lead the next bull run—ETH or BTC? Who knows? What if BTC suddenly crashes right now?
So fellow enthusiasts, let go of bias and imagined enemies. In financial markets, there’s no absolute right or wrong. Treat every project at different stages of development with rationality. Our game isn’t a battle between whales—there’s no need to fight tooth and nail for self-interest (our combined stakes don’t add up to much anyway—this is about $2,000, not worth dying for. Peace brings prosperity).
Whether BRC20 or eths, both have room and direction for future growth. The positive interactions between the two founders on Twitter send a meaningful signal—these two forces can complement each other, allowing the inscription space to evolve into a massive capital reservoir.
No matter if you're "b" or "e", the prosperity of inscriptions is a shared responsibility.
Reactions from "B-Side Players"
As mentioned in the previous article, once the market launches, greedy actors will inevitably appear—that's the pattern. How to guard against them was covered in my first article—feel free to check it out.
In the current environment, eths is still a newborn infant. Unlike BRC20, it lacks a powerful authority to provide protection. So far, no figure has emerged who can uphold industry standards.
Fortunately, users remember pain—they learn from past experiences to avoid upcoming risks.
The number of active eths users dwarfs that of BTC. This volume of traffic is more than enough for an emerging exchange to seize the opportunity and rise to the top tier. Who will eventually become the rule-setter for this industry remains to be seen.
Outlook for the Future
The next challenge for eths lies in how it can gain broader exposure through centralized exchanges—a pivotal moment. Regardless of outcome, given eths’ current热度 and scale, its strong growth potential cannot be denied.
The upcoming split of eths presents a great opportunity to expand its influence. Combined with operations from centralized exchanges, the likelihood of matching BRC20 is very high. In this phase where ETH reigns supreme, it’s entirely possible that eths might surpass ordi. After all, inscriptions aren't inherently tied to BTC or ETH—it's the convergence of timing, location, and people that shapes the trajectories of ordi and eths.
But BRC20 isn't standing still either. The token "one-hit-wonder" model has revealed many flaws, yet it provides valuable reference data and insights for building better products in the future (including for ETHS).
Ordinals official has begun exploring new directions—will this spark a renewed BRC20 narrative? Worth monitoring closely.
Magic official's seemingly minor adjustments consistently signal a deep commitment to product refinement and improved user experience—possibly preparing for what’s ahead.
MABC official, a recent dark horse, is the first map-style NFT in the BRC20 space. With its premium website design and innovative Film-fi gameplay, could it become the next BAYC?
Damo’s latest tweet—technically unclear to me—but the team is clearly shipping! Compared to traditional industries, where investments take years to yield returns, crypto truly feels like paradise.

Looking across the entire inscription space, beneath fading enthusiasm, many are still pushing forward under heavy loads.
They share the same roots—why such hostility? If BRC20 and eths can advance together in synergy, we stand a good chance of witnessing the inscription space flourish in the next bull market.
