Is SBF the mastermind behind BALD?
By comparing SBF's past tweets, people identified a strong SBF style in the official BALD Twitter posts.

"It's all just bubbles, a fleeting spark."
BALD, the so-called "meme coin" on BASE—Coinbase’s Layer 2—might be the perfect embodiment of this lyric.
On July 31, the BALD team used 1,160 ETH (approximately $2.17 million) to repurchase 29.78 million BALD tokens, driving the price from $0.055 up to a peak of $0.09. Just as everyone was reveling in the joy of “pump and dump” euphoria, the team delivered a surprise—removing 10,704 ETH (around $20 million) and 224 million BALD tokens from the liquidity pool. The price immediately crashed from $0.09 to below $0.02.
Amid the chaos, some sharp-eyed observers began uncovering clues suggesting that SBF, the founder of FTX, might be the mastermind behind BALD.
The evidence includes:
1. On-Chain Addresses
First, identify the project team’s wallet address: 0xccFa0530B9d52f970d1A2dAEa670ce58E4176389.
It turns out the initial funds for this address originated from FTX.

Additionally, Wallet A (0x000f7f22bfC28D940d4B68e13213aB17cf107790), which directly interacted with the team’s Binance deposit address, also transacted with Alameda-associated wallets.

During SBF’s detention in the Bahamas, this address remained inactive. It only resumed activity after SBF arrived in the U.S. and gained limited freedom.

Wallet A was also unusually active during the UST depeg crisis, appearing to engage in arbitrage and even accelerating UST’s collapse.

Wallet A also participated in SushiSwap governance votes—an exchange where SBF was considered a “core big player.”

2. BALD Official Twitter Matches SBF’s Linguistic Patterns
SBF has a distinctive linguistic style, evident in his word choices and phrasing. By comparing past tweets from SBF, users identified strong similarities in the tone and wording of posts from the official BALD Twitter account.
Use of “correct” as a reply:

Frequent use of “nor”:

Use of “quite well”:

3. Other Clues
Serum, the DEX on Solana created by FTX, had its original official Twitter account renamed to @0xLukaeth, which previously promoted $BALD.

As the story unfolds, more people are digging for additional evidence of the connection. However, there is still no definitive proof that SBF is the person controlling BALD.
Tiffany Fong, a KOL who once interviewed SBF, privately messaged Bankless’ founder stating, “It can’t be Sam—he’s only allowed to use a flip phone right now.”

Some industry insiders speculate that the actual controller of BALD might be a former Alameda employee, though further evidence is needed.
Whether it’s SBF or someone from Alameda, if such a link is confirmed, many investors may feel deeply disappointed: first rug-pulled by FTX, then again by BALD. SBF truly becoming their nemesis for life.
