On-chain games seem to be regaining momentum recently. Crypto analyst Apix introduces three new on-chain games—here are some notes:
Doomsday

Doomsday is a fairly typical on-chain game. After playing it, I’ve summarized several noteworthy points:
• Powered by GameFi;
• Excellent landing page design;
• Technically sound yet accessible to beginners—no need to read a whitepaper to understand the rules;
• Minting currently costs around $100;
• Not much to do at the moment besides waiting and playing;
• First-mover advantage.
This game illustrates both the rationale behind on-chain gaming (reward distribution, novel casino mechanics) and its limitations (lack of engaging gameplay, transaction fees, etc.).
Pirate Nation NFT

Pirate Nation NFT is a consumer-targeted on-chain game. It might be the only blockchain game I believe ordinary players would genuinely enjoy:
• Beautiful artwork;
• Relatively easy to understand;
• Designed for mainstream players (browser/mobile-friendly);
• PVP mechanics need improvement;
• Slight in-game latency due to transaction confirmations (on ARB Nova);
• User interface could be slightly refined—adding labels to menus (actions) and improving minor details;
• Has a token entry barrier (though a free mode is coming soon).
The gameplay is relatively active with no fixed endpoint—ideal for casual 10–20 minute daily sessions.
Loot Survivor

Loot Realms is building an autonomous world. Loot Survivor feels like an early demo version of a mini-game that was accidentally released:
• Free to try (on Starknet testnet);
• Long block confirmation times per action (but progress can be well-tracked throughout);
• Gameplay resembles an evolving storybook;
• Nearly purely luck-based gameplay;
• Opportunity to set up a Starknet wallet and obtain testnet ETH for future on-chain games.
This mini-game serves more as a proof of concept. The final product will be vastly different. The benefit is being able to freely experience and feel the characteristics of on-chain gaming firsthand.
These three games represent different categories—one reward-driven, one competing with traditional games, and one serving as a prelude to an autonomous world.
They each follow their own vision, but in my opinion, Pirate Nation is undoubtedly the most advanced product so far.
