Solana Foundation launches the 12th "Cypherpunk" International Hackathon
Participants can register to compete for a total prize pool of $510,000, $250,000 in early-stage investment, and 1:1 incubation eligibility from the Colosseum accelerator.
Colosseum's "Cypherpunk" hackathon is an online competition designed to provide a competitive platform for the next generation of developers on the Solana network. Participants can compete for a total prize pool of $510,000, $250,000 in early-stage investment, and 1:1 incubation opportunities from the Colosseum accelerator.
The Solana Foundation has announced the launch of the "Cypherpunk" hackathon, now open for registration on the Colosseum platform. As the twelfth hackathon organized by the Solana Foundation, "Cypherpunk" is an online event aimed at empowering the next wave of developers building on Solana. The hackathon is currently underway and will run until October 30.
Participants in the "Cypherpunk" hackathon can use the Colosseum online platform to create developer profiles, find teammates, exchange ideas, explore competition tracks, and register to compete for over $500,000 in prizes, $250,000 in early investment, and 1:1 incubation from the Colosseum accelerator. Competitors can win up to $30,000 per project, along with special track-specific awards.
Over the past year, the Solana network has gained strong momentum due to relentless innovation from its developer community. These builders have established Solana as the leading platform across DeFi, RWA, consumer applications, stablecoins, social, and DePIN. From solutions enabling merchants to accept USDC payments with near-instant settlement and low fees, to a wave of new applications emerging beyond DeFi, Solana developers have significantly expanded the ecosystem’s application diversity.
"Hackathons play a crucial role in Solana's continued growth, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration," said Dan Albert, Executive Director of the Solana Foundation. "These events empower developers to build meaningful solutions that will disrupt industries, solve real-world problems, and create utility applications only possible on Solana."
To further encourage exploration of new use cases on Solana, the Cypherpunk online hackathon focuses on six key domains:
- DeFi hosted by Arcium
- RWA hosted by Forward Industries
- Consumer Applications hosted by Raydium
- Stablecoins hosted by Reflect
- Infrastructure hosted by Triton
- Open Track hosted by Solana Foundation
The top project will receive a $30,000 Grand Prize awarded by Phantom. Additionally, three special awards will be granted: Best Social Impact Project, Best Student Project, and Solana Mobile Stack Project. Hackathon winners will also gain eligibility for admission into Colosseum’s accelerator program, receiving $250,000 in pre-seed funding, resource connections, and 1:1 mentorship.
"We’re thrilled to host the next Solana Foundation hackathon on Colosseum," said Matty Taylor, Co-Founder of Colosseum. "Solana’s developer community is incredibly vibrant, and we’re honored to support them at such a pivotal stage of their journey. We look forward to collaborating with the Solana Foundation and many other partners across the Solana ecosystem to continue encouraging experimentation, entrepreneurial innovation, and solutions to real-world challenges."
According to incomplete statistics, over the past four years, more than 80,000 developers have participated in Solana-hosted hackathons, resulting in over 6,500 projects launched and raising more than $700 million in aggregate funding. Notable success stories include Jito, Drift, Kamino, Tensor, io.net, Marinade, and Solend.
