Towns, which raised $46 million, is launching soon—will the airdrop likely be a "small reward"?

Time to claim your "braised pork rice" again.
Last night, according to official announcements, Binance Alpha will list Towns (TOWNS) on August 5. Although TOWNS did not conduct its TGE in Q2, its listing on Binance Alpha indicates that token airdrops for early interactive participants are imminent.
Below, TechFlow provides an overview of the Towns project, its tokenomics, airdrop details, over-the-counter pricing, and points-based valuation.
Towns: A Blockchain-Based Discord
Towns is a group chat protocol and application designed specifically for online communities, composed of three parts: smart contracts, a decentralized node network, and applications built on the Towns protocol. The standout feature of Towns is its "town square" concept, integrating communities, NFTs, and gaming to offer users an Ethereum-based smart contract system with end-to-end encrypted messaging. Towns enables community members to own their town squares and communicate freely via a fully decentralized, end-to-end encrypted chat protocol.
Towns provides foundational building blocks for users to create ideal communities. Ownership of each Town is recorded on-chain, allowing it to be transferred, sold, or held by another smart contract (such as a DAO or multisig). Additionally, Towns empowers communities to create programmable, autonomous gathering spaces, build new clients or APIs, and maintain full control and customization so any group can organize and chat freely while designing rules tailored to their needs. Community owners can also create unique experiences around communities, NFTs, and games—such as selling access keys to specific channels, rewarding member contributions, or enabling direct NFT trading within chats.
According to the latest official disclosures, Towns has raised a total of $46 million in funding from investors including a16z Crypto, Coinbase Ventures, Benchmark, Framework, and echodotxyz.

Towns' total funding reaches $46 million
According to coinbilly, the project lead for Towns, the platform has generated over $35 million in real revenue to date, with approximately $3.5 million in fees used for buyback and burn.
Towns Tokenomics: Nearly 10% Allocated to Airdrops
TOWNS is an ERC-20 token with an initial supply of 10 billion tokens. The annual inflation rate starts at 8% and linearly decreases to 2% over 20 years. The formula for calculating newly minted tokens each year is: Annual Inflation = Current Total Supply × Annual Inflation Rate (e.g., 800 million in the first year; total supply increases to 10.8 billion in the second year, resulting in 864 million for the next year’s inflation, and so on). The detailed token allocation is as follows:
-
Community Reserve: 43.14%;
-
Team: 21.46%;
-
Investors: 13.74%;
-
Airdrop: 9.87%;
-
Year 1 Node Incentives: 7.9%;
-
Public Investors: 2.62%;
-
Node Inflation: 1.27%.

TOWNS Tokenomics
Early interactive participants will receive nearly 10% of the total token supply, with an additional 43% reserved for future rewards.
Nearly 400K Points Users, Over 1,000 Points Places You in Top 75%
According to on-chain data, the Towns platform has a total of 573,000 users and 446,000 created towns, with 397,000 users holding points. The specific point distribution is as follows:
-
Users with over 100,000 points: 7,000 (top 1.76%);
-
Users with 50,000–100,000 points: 6,000 (top 3.35%);
-
Users with 20,000–50,000 points: 22,800 (top 9.07%);
-
Users with 10,000–20,000 points: 25,800 (top 15.57%);
-
Users with 5,000–10,000 points: 28,500 (top 22.75%);
-
Users with 1,000–5,000 points: 210,000 (top 75.64%);
-
Users with 0–1,000 points: 95,900 (top 100%).
It's clear that users with more than 1,000 points rank within the top ~75%, giving them a very high probability of receiving an airdrop.
From the perspective of town membership size:
-
Towns with 1 member: 34,900;
-
Towns with 2–3 members: 27,900;
-
Towns with 4–5 members: 36,000;
-
Towns with 6–10 members: 47,100;
-
Towns with 11–15 members: 12,200;
-
Towns with 16–20 members: 4,900;
-
Towns with over 20 members: 12,500.
The majority of towns remain in early stages with limited user attention—only 16.8% have more than 10 members. Additionally, users can check their rankings on layerHub without connecting a wallet by entering their wallet address (link: https://layerhub.xyz/search?p=towns).
First Snapshot Ended April 10, Second Snapshot Not Yet Conducted
Previously, Towns announced on X that the first snapshot concluded on April 10, while the second snapshot will occur prior to the airdrop (not yet conducted). Both snapshots will be considered for the token airdrop. Therefore, to maximize potential airdrop allocations, users who have already interacted with the platform are advised to continue daily check-ins and remain active until the airdrop query system opens.

4 Billion Points for 1 Billion Tokens – Airdrop Likely “Small Change”
On-chain data shows that Towns has issued over 4 billion points in total. Approximately 10% of the total token supply—about 1 billion TOWNS tokens—is allocated for airdrop rewards. With roughly 400,000 points holders potentially eligible, this results in a ratio of “1 billion tokens distributed across 4 billion points”—meaning each point could redeem approximately 0.25 TOWNS tokens.
Based on the pre-market trading price of TOWNS on Mexc (currently ~$0.049 per token), each point equates to a potential value of $0.0049. This implies that a user with 10,000 points would receive 2,500 tokens, valued at approximately $120.

The above analysis does not account for point thresholds, Sybil attacks, or other limiting factors. Eligible recipients may receive higher-value allocations. However, both objective data and community sentiment suggest this airdrop will likely amount to little more than “small change.”
