Legal Advancements in Digital Assets
Vietnam has recently advanced its digital asset regulation, underscoring the government’s commitment to establishing a clear legal framework that supports industry growth. In October 2024, the government released its “National Strategy for Blockchain Technology Development,” set for implementation in 2025. This roadmap outlines plans to strengthen domestic infrastructure and position Vietnam as a regional leader in blockchain adoption.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly has begun reviewing the proposed “Digital Technology Industry Law,” which introduces key legal definitions for digital assets and proposes pilot programs for digital asset exchanges in major financial hubs such as Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Furthermore, the government has issued directives to finalize a comprehensive legal framework for digital assets—including virtual assets and service providers—by May 2025. These regulatory developments will be a focal point at Blockchain Week Vietnam 2025, offering timely insights into Vietnam’s rapidly evolving legal and policy landscape.
