Bitget U.S. Stocks 2.0 AMA Highlights: Answers to Users’ Most Frequently Asked Questions
This Space featured four hardcore “challenger guests” from the cryptocurrency and U.S. stock communities, who rigorously grilled Bitget’s Greater China Region Head Jiayin and Trading Product Director Thomas.
Recently, the U.S. stock market has been exceptionally vibrant, with hot sectors such as semiconductors, memory, and optical communications experiencing frequent surges—igniting users’ trading enthusiasm.
However, traditional brokers face constraints due to regulatory uncertainty and compliance costs, making cross-border capital deployment and asset allocation major pain points for countless investors.
Last Tuesday, Bitget launched a comprehensive upgrade of its “U.S. Stocks 2.0” offering—delivering transformative improvements across dividend distribution, liquidity depth, and capital utilization.
This Space session featured four hardcore “challenger guests” from both the crypto and U.S. stock communities: Bean Brother @BroBean88, Xia Dadi Hai Da @xiadadhaida, Frank @qinbafrank, and Lu Ge (who “restructures the crypto world”) @lugeweb3—who subjected Bitget’s Greater China Head Jia Yin and Trading Product Director Thomas to an intense round of questioning.
During the livestream, Jia Yin and Thomas not only addressed users’ top product-related concerns but also previewed Bitget’s June product roadmap—packed with high-value, actionable insights.
Key Q&A Highlights
I. Product Features & Future Roadmap
Q (Bean Brother):
As a long-time user of IB (Interactive Brokers) and Futu/Tiger Brokers, I appreciate how traditional brokers offer rich fundamental analysis tools, options data, earnings calendars, and AI-powered quick-order functionality. So far, Bitget’s research and analytical tools feel comparatively underdeveloped. Do you have a clear optimization roadmap?
Thomas:
Traditional brokers have evolved over a decade—or even several decades—with highly mature feature sets. In contrast, our U.S. stocks product has been live for less than two weeks. Equities is now an absolute strategic priority for Bitget, and we’re committing substantial resources to it without hesitation.
Over the next 1–2 years, we’ll continuously strengthen the competitiveness of our U.S. stocks product. Our long-term vision is to build an All-in-One platform where users can complete the full “research-to-trade” loop entirely within Bitget.
Jia Yin:
Traditional brokers have operated for years within mature market infrastructures, building stable trading systems and strong user recognition. Bitget, by contrast, emerged from the high-intensity competition of the crypto market—equipped with more efficient trading technology, more agile product design, and stronger user-service orientation—as we enter the U.S. equities space.
I can confidently say that Bitget’s U.S. stocks spot offering is highly competitive—across liquidity depth, execution efficiency, and overall trading smoothness—within its peer group on exchanges.
II. Dividends, Stock Splits/Mergers, and Tax Handling
Q (Bean Brother):
How does Bitget’s U.S. stocks mechanism differ from traditional brokers regarding dividend entitlements, payout timing, and tax handling? What’s the exact calculation methodology?
Thomas:
We designed the system from day one to align fully with U.S. market standards.
- Tax withholding: Due to platform universality, we currently cannot support W-8 forms like IB does—so users do not qualify for the preferential 20% tax rate. Instead, all dividends are subject to a uniform 30% U.S. withholding tax.
- Capital gains tax (on profits): Since Bitget uses tokenized rToken structures, capital gains tax does not apply.
- Payout timing: The payout schedule mirrors that of traditional brokers.
- Token withdrawals: As this is a tokenized product, users continue receiving dividend airdrops even after withdrawing U.S. stocks tokens to their self-custodied wallets. In cases of stock splits or mergers, proportional adjustments are automatically reflected in users’ wallet token balances.
III. Underlying Mechanism, Slippage, and Listing Speed
Q (Bean Brother & Lu Ge):
Bitget adopts an asset-tokenization (rToken) approach—adding an extra token-conversion layer. Compared to solutions that directly integrate with brokers, could this introduce price slippage, spreads, or slower listing speeds?
Thomas:
This is indeed the most pressing concern. Last year, we integrated a third-party Ondo solution, which—based on real-world usage—had limitations: e.g., per-trade caps at $200,000 and suboptimal execution speed. Guided by user feedback and actual experience gaps, we began developing the RWA protocol Reality in late December last year—to enhance trading efficiency, asset transparency, and UX at the foundational architecture level.
Currently, all displayed prices and order book depths on our platform reflect genuine, real-time U.S. stock data. Orders are routed transparently and directly into NASDAQ and NYSE order books. Thus, there’s no slippage or latency disadvantage versus Futu or Tiger—even during pre-market, after-hours, and overnight sessions, where we support fast market-order execution by dynamically converting order types.
Jia Yin:
We conducted rigorous live-market testing: purchase prices on Bitget matched those on Futu exactly—zero spread. Execution speed is millisecond-level—whether placing limit orders or executing market orders—smooth and robust, even for large-volume trades.
On listing speed:
U.S. stock listings follow stricter processes. Within just over a week, we’ve already launched 200–300 stocks—and will maintain rapid rollout pace. We commit to listing 500 mainstream U.S. stocks within the next 7 days. This target isn’t about quantity alone; it’s data-driven. Precise selection means these 500 tickers will cover ~98% of trading volume demand.
IV. Stability During Extreme Market Conditions & Fund Security
Q (Hai Da & Lu Ge):
- During extreme “black swan” events involving single-day spikes or crashes, can Bitget guarantee seamless operation—no lag, no failed order submissions?
- What happens if Reality—the issuer of U.S. stock tokens—goes bankrupt or disappears? Who safeguards users’ assets?
Thomas:
For extreme market conditions, we’re continuously optimizing our trading infrastructure. Going forward, we’ll connect to Wall Street’s high-frequency trading “dedicated line”—bringing world-class performance, throughput, and speed. Ordinary users will enjoy the same seamless experience as institutional brokers and quant hedge funds.
Jia Yin:
Rest assured—there’s zero risk of exit scams:
- Reality is an in-house Bitget product, built in deep collaboration with licensed broker Alpaca.
- Bitget has operated securely for 8 years with an impeccable safety record.
- Our asset reserve ratio exceeds 100%.
- We maintain a $300M Bitget User Protection Fund—specifically reserved for mitigating black-swan risks.
V. Real-World Asset Backing & Third-Party Audits
Q:
How can users verify that the underlying assets backing their U.S. stock tokens are authentic—and truly 1:1 collateralized?
Thomas:
We’ve engaged a U.S.-licensed third-party accounting and auditing firm (The Network Firm) to conduct round-the-clock, 24/7 monitoring and audits of our equities holdings and on-chain tokens.
We’ve granted the auditors full access to our securities and cash accounts held with partner brokers—enabling them to directly verify our underlying share quantities while cross-checking against publicly viewable smart contract data on-chain. Daily and monthly audit reports are published publicly in real time. Any shortfall below 100% collateralization triggers immediate public disclosure.
VI. Community Content, Investor Education & Operational Strategy
Q (Frank):
Unlike crypto, U.S. equities involve multi-dimensional structured data and sector-based concepts. Platforms like Futu and Tiger invest heavily in internal content ecosystems—supporting top traders to publish analyses and visual sector maps—to stimulate and assist user decision-making. What’s Bitget’s plan for content operations and investor education?
Thomas:
Content and timeliness are critical for U.S. equity trading. Over the past month, we’ve been intensively negotiating partnerships with multiple leading U.S. equity data and news providers. Earnings coverage, deep-dive analysis, and news features will roll out incrementally alongside product updates—matching traditional brokers’ capabilities.
Jia Yin:
While building our U.S. stocks offering, we discovered many users are crypto “newbies”—some needing step-by-step guidance just to set up Google Authenticator. Hence, investor education is our top priority. We’re actively assembling a dedicated team—including interviews with U.S. equity analysts from traditional finance—and have formed an 8-person BD team plus specialized U.S. equity content operators. With certain traditional brokers adjusting services, new user needs have emerged in the market. Our mission is to deliver solid foundational services, thorough user education, and reliable operational support—helping users transition smoothly and efficiently to multi-asset trading.
