A Brief Analysis of the Integration of Story and AI Agent: Building a On-Chain IP Trading Market
The framework of Story is designed to enable IP interaction and transactions among AI Agents, thereby creating a new type of on-chain economy.

To Understand Story, First Understand IP
First, IP itself is a valuable asset.
Story is a Layer 1 blockchain built for IP. To understand Story, one must first understand IP. IP represents a massive market encompassing brands, creative works, and technological innovations. Specifically, it can refer to a song, a game, a brand, a technology patent, or even common crypto-related assets such as MEMEs or AI training data.
In other words, IP is a type of asset. Like any asset, it creates demand for issuance, trading, and management. This opens up numerous application scenarios for IP—integrations with DeFi, AI Agents, and more, as will be discussed later.
Second, there's a fundamental difference between off-chain and on-chain IP assets. On-chain IP is programmable, allowing IP owners to control, own, and generate revenue from their IP.
The Significance of Story for IP Assets
Since IP is an asset, its real-world applications are more limited off-chain, especially regarding liquidity. On-chain, IP owners not only retain control but can also unlock additional value through open markets. This is the core source of Story’s importance to IP assets. For Story, there are two IP markets: one involving the tokenization of off-chain IP assets—similar to RWA—and another being a fully on-chain IP market for issuing, trading, and managing digital IP assets.
The Economic Market Between Story and AI Agents
Story has multiple intersections with AI. These include: serving as critical training data with shared revenue; enabling AI Agents to generate on-chain IP assets; allowing AI Agents to utilize Story’s on-chain IP assets; and facilitating commercial transactions among AI Agents (e.g., trading training data, creative works). Together, this forms an on-chain market integrating IP and AI Agents.
The key reason Story and AI Agents can converge lies in the uniqueness of IP—akin to DNA—which provides strong synergy for AI Agents and model training.
Story’s collaboration with Stability is mutually beneficial. From Story’s perspective, leveraging Stability’s AI models enables creators (artists, developers, etc.) to operate under a transparent contribution-tracking system. One use case involves registering an artist’s unique style (writers, painters, musicians, etc.) as transparently usable IP data, which then becomes training data. For Stability, using Story’s IP data allows fine-tuning and training of their models. When revenue is generated—for example, when creators use this IP data to train models and produce monetizable outputs—all participants in the chain can share in the rewards.
Story aims to build the TCP/IP for AI Agents, intending to create a marketplace for transactions among AI Agents. This move is crucial for maximizing Story’s IP-centric advantages and determining the ultimate scale of its future market.
Based on current disclosures, Story’s TCP/IP is a framework supporting IP transactions between Agents. Agents can trade training data, creative styles, investment strategies, and more. Story plans to integrate frameworks like ai16z’s Eliza and Virtual’s GAME, and likely others such as Swarms and ARC in the future—primarily to enable all Agents to transact IP assets seamlessly.
For example, a human user or institution might commission a piece of music from an AI Agent known for a specific musical style (a unique IP). Based on the request, this AI Agent may decide to purchase IP from other AI Agents with different musical styles (each holding unique IPs), blend them into a new musical style (new IP), and deliver the final composition to the client. This scenario involves not only human-AI interaction but also transactions between AI Agents.
This ecosystem fosters diverse interactions and transactions, forming a vibrant market rich in innovative IP assets. Additionally, Story hired AI Agent LUNA as its marketing intern, with an anticipated salary of over $300,000—demonstrating a practical example of economic activity among AI Agents on Story.
As countless on-chain AI Agents emerge in the future, they will inherently require interaction and transaction capabilities. Their traded content will often include IP. Story is targeting this market by managing vast amounts of IP through its TCP/IP framework, enabling trustless, intermediary-free interactions and transactions among AI Agents—fueling the growth of a thriving AI Agent economy.
In summary, the future will be defined by an explosion of AI Agents with growing transaction needs. Story’s framework aims to facilitate IP interaction and exchange among these agents, giving rise to a novel on-chain economy. Its ultimate success will depend largely on the total volume of IP transactions occurring between AI Agents built on Story.
