Are there more Meme god tokens at dawn? Data analysis shows that's actually true
After 9 PM Beijing time, the frequency of "Golden Dog" significantly increases, with the golden period between 3-6 AM; even if missed, there are still opportunities to join.

"Another 1000x gem dog emerged last night," "Missed a 100x while taking a nap"—have you ever experienced this? Gem dogs always strike when you're offline, and by the time you notice, their market cap has already exceeded eight digits. So, when do gem dogs most frequently appear? Is it necessary to be online during specific hours to catch them? This article by Odaily will review the data.
When Do Gem Dogs Appear?
We first analyzed tokens from Pump.fun that rank within the top 1,000 by market cap, mapping out their creation timestamps. A timestamp of 0 indicates the token was created between 0:00–1:00 Beijing time, with subsequent hours following accordingly. The chart clearly shows that after 9 PM, the frequency of gem dogs rises from around 2% to 4%, continuing to climb until peaking between 3–6 AM, then declining back to 2%–3% during morning hours.

To verify whether this pattern holds, we expanded our analysis to include tokens ranked within the top 200 and top 2000 by market cap. For clearer visualization, bar charts are provided below. For the top 2000 tokens, the trend remains consistent—gem dog frequency begins rising significantly after 9 PM and peaks between 3–6 AM, maintaining a clear advantage during these hours.

Is There Still a Chance If You Miss the Night Wave?
Chasing gem dogs in the middle of the night is impractical for most users. But does missing the overnight surge mean losing all opportunities? The author analyzed the time gap between creation and the first peak for the current top 20 tokens, as shown in the figure below. On average, it takes 52.7 hours to reach the first peak, and an average of 58.7 days to achieve a position within the current top 20. This indicates that even if you miss the initial launch, there's still ample opportunity to get on board later.

Data Sources
Pump.fun’s market cap rankings can be accessed via its frontend API, which provides over ten data points including token address, symbol, creation and end time. As tested by the author, this API can retrieve data for up to the top 2,050 tokens.
For tokens outside the rankings, creation time can still be obtained through the frontend API. The last transaction recorded in the API corresponds to the developer’s first purchase; from this transaction, the token’s creation time can be derived.
