Following the success of "Exorcist" and "Renfield" experiences on Aptos, NBCUniversal will continue its collaboration with Aptos Labs over the coming years.
Entertainment giant NBCUniversal, which launched multiple blockchain-based projects on Aptos last year, has now agreed to a long-term partnership with Aptos Labs to continue building fan experiences and games based on its intellectual property through the network.
The two companies shared the news exclusively with Decrypt this Thursday, describing it as a multi-year alliance and a "long-term strategic development agreement," under which Aptos Labs will assist the media giant in further exploring blockchain applications, gaming, and loyalty programs.
"The media and entertainment landscape is evolving rapidly, with fan experiences and preferences driving more change than ever before," said Greg Reed, Vice President of Technology Partnerships at Universal Pictures, in a press release. "Our multi-year partnership with Aptos Labs will help us deepen our relationships with fans and create and deliver more of the media and entertainment experiences audiences crave."
Owned by Comcast, NBCUniversal is the corporate parent of numerous film, television, and multimedia brands, including the NBC network, DreamWorks, and Peacock. It also holds extensive intellectual property across various media forms and will continue developing blockchain experiences around these properties and brands.

In 2023, NBCUniversal partnered with Aptos Labs to launch an Aptos game inspired by Nicolas Cage's film Renfield, as well as a fan experience related to The Exorcist called “Believer.”
The company has previously engaged in blockchain initiatives with other partners, including a 2022 treasure hunt game at Universal Studios parks in collaboration with crypto payments startup MoonPay, centered around millions of NFTs.

NBCUniversal also collaborated with Variant3D that same year to produce Classic Monsters apparel featuring NFT "digital twins," and released NFTs based on Back to the Future: Part II and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World through other platforms.
"Our goal is to bring world-class, internet-scale blockchain products and solutions to market," said Mo Shaikh, co-founder and CEO of Aptos Labs, in a press release. "We look forward to working with NBCUniversal to explore how the Aptos blockchain can deepen fan engagement and deliver unique entertainment experiences."
