GWEI Cloud Summit Week 2 agenda is live! Recap of the highlights from Week 1!
A Complete Analysis of Ethereum's Present and Future
On April 13, the Global Web3 Ecosystem Innovation Cloud Summit (GWEI Cloud Summit) was officially announced, kicking off a journey into the Web3 early summer season lasting over a month. After the first week of forums, we will now continue with the exciting agenda of Week Two of GWEI2022 Cloud Summit: New Era | A Complete Analysis of Ethereum’s Present and Future.
As is widely known, the Merge will mark the end of Ethereum's Proof-of-Work (PoW) era.
With the Merge approaching, what specific impacts will this upgrade bring to Ethereum and its ecosystem?
How will Ethereum achieve scalability moving forward?
And when can ordinary users actually experience the benefits brought by the Merge?
On Wednesday (April 27) at 8 PM, independent researcher and former ChainNews Research Director Pan Zhixiong, Chainlink China Head Philip, and YuanYu Linong founder Yao Xiang will gather online around Panel 2 topic "New Era · Full Breakdown of ETH’s Present and Future", to jointly discuss the highly anticipated Merge event and decode Ethereum’s present and future!

Live Stream Time: April 27, 20:00 UTC+8 (8 PM Wednesday)
Live Stream Link: https://www.gweisummit.com/
Guests: Former ChainNews Research Director Pan Zhixiong, Chainlink China Head Philip, YuanYu Linong Founder Yao Xiang
The Ethereum Theme Week runs from April 25 to April 29. Attendees who check in to live streams will receive the Cyro badge—the second NFT badge issued during this GWEI Cloud Summit.

Cyro, derived from the ancient Greek word κρύος, meaning "cold".
Today, it's rare to find English derivatives or words prefixed with "cyro". The only instances are technical terms like cyrophilic or cryogenic—words you won't encounter in everyday life. While ancient Greeks used it to describe coldness, we prefer to see Cyro as representing something resilient and legendary—like ancient glaciers.

Recap of First Week Content
From April 18 to April 22, the first week of the Cloud Summit featured two live panel discussions under the theme “Crypto Old Friends,” both successfully concluded. Let’s take a look back at some highlights!
On April 18, the opening forum of the GWEI Cloud Summit, titled “Old Friends, New Perspectives,” welcomed Shenyu, co-founder of F2Pool and Cobo; Super Jun, head of Benmo Block Community; and Amber, DapperLabs China Lead, for an insightful dialogue on Web3.
Discussing GameFi and future trends, Shenyu stated, "The Ethereum Merge and the emergence of Layer 2 networks could trigger a wave of wealth effects comparable to what we've seen in competitive Layer 1 blockchains over the past two years. One or two dominant Layer 2 networks may emerge within this year or next. GameFi requires long development cycles—most projects over the past year were essentially DeFi wrapped in game skins or poorly designed games with low playability. As new players enter the space, genuinely meaningful GameFi projects should appear this year, potentially leading to explosive opportunities for outsized returns akin to Axie Infinity in the coming months."
On NFT development, Amber noted that "NFT + DAO is a very natural combination, because the cultural consensus represented by NFTs closely aligns with the organizational consensus in DAO operations. I’m highly optimistic about this direction. Furthermore, under current economic conditions, DAOs will inevitably participate in more social collaborations. A core challenge here is trustless execution—an area with significant room for innovation at the tooling level."
Super Jun remarked, "Bitcoin is the cornerstone of the crypto industry, embodying the greatest trust in the sector—those looking to preserve wealth should stick with Bitcoin." On DeFi, he added, "Currently, many DeFi protocol tokens have dropped 80–90%, yet some protocols capture more value daily than they distribute in token emissions. I approach these from a value investment perspective, allocating based on traditional PE valuation metrics."
On April 19, the GWEI Cloud Summit continued with a deep discussion on the theme “Black Swan and Gray Rhino,” featuring Hu Jie, Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University / SAIF, Executive Committee Member of China Computer Federation Blockchain Committee; blockchain and digital asset researcher Meng Yan; and Wu Xiao, founder of PureWhite Matrix, discussing topics such as Federal Reserve rate hikes, market trends, and entrepreneurial decisions.

On how practitioners and entrepreneurs can keep pace with market developments, Meng Yan offered three suggestions: "First, engage with international markets; second, get involved in Web3, as Web3 represents a critical evolution in this industry—staying aligned with this trend is essential. Third, maintain patience. Real demand for Web3 projects won’t emerge quickly, but believe that Web3 can generate genuine use cases. The network effects enhanced by tokenomics’ unique positive feedback loops will be far stronger than those seen in traditional internet or mobile internet."
Wu Xiao shared his view: "Do more Web3, do more building, do less trading. Focus on meaningful work—real opportunities exist if you commit to building. Web2 is too saturated; Web3 offers us a systemic opportunity."
Regarding the metaverse—a top-funded sector since last year—Hu Jie offered this insight: "In a market like China, entering from a B2B angle holds great potential, as many companies now recognize the vast marketing potential of online tools. With the rise of Web3.0 concepts and blockchain-powered new tools, conducting marketing in this new technological space isn’t just possible—it’s necessary."
