Building the “Planet Tribe”: Jason Explains OKX Planet’s Product Mechanics and Community Logic

As an annual milestone connecting the team, community, and partners, OKX’s “Reunion Dinner” serves not only as a concentrated forum for discussing industry trends and product roadmaps but also reflects OKX’s long-term strategic judgment and sustained commitment to community building.
At the event, Jason, Head of Product for OKX Planet Community, systematically introduced the platform’s product capabilities, incentive mechanisms, and future roadmap. As OKX’s first systematic foray into the community space, Planet Community is being built in an open, iterative manner—aiming to establish a crypto-native social gateway serving users, creators, and ecosystem participants alike.
Building Four Core Content Hubs
In his presentation, Jason stated that Planet Community aims to become the leading community platform in the crypto industry—aggregating high-quality information, trading opportunities, active creators, and deeply engaged communities. To date, Planet Community has established four core content hubs, covering all scenarios across public and private domains, creation and interaction.
First is the public-domain creation hub: Any platform user who has completed KYC can activate a creator profile and personal homepage, directly sharing trading opportunities, analytical insights, emotional value, and cultivating personal influence.
Second is the public-domain persona showcase, where creators can fully display their real-time trading performance and influence—enhancing fan trust and attention.
Third is the live-streaming capability, combining broad public-domain exposure with deep private-domain interaction. The live-streaming product is simple to operate and standardized, supporting both internal streaming and multi-platform distribution. Creators can share strategies in real time and interact with fans; a tipping mechanism will be introduced soon to deliver multiple benefits—including content exposure, fan retention, and trading conversion.
Fourth is the private-domain community hub, centered around group chats and offering rich community management tools. As long as content policies are not seriously violated, group chats will remain stable and long-running—providing users with a trusted haven for communication.
Above these four hubs, Planet Community has specially designed a “Discover” page featuring three key sections: Top Traders, Trending Creators, and Popular Groups—granting strong visibility and traffic-conversion opportunities to high-quality content. Additional features—including Daily Hot Posts and Trending Topics—will launch soon to further help users uncover high-value content.
Thanks to hundreds of daily user feedback submissions during its 10-day public beta, Planet Community is rapidly iterating: upcoming features include a draft box for long-form editing and saving, an @-mention function to boost interactivity, more trading-oriented content components, enhanced creator dashboards, and richer analytics displays. Meanwhile, live-streaming capabilities will continue to mature—equipping creators with stronger expressive and monetization tools.
Community Incentives: Dynamic, Fair, and Sustainable
Jason emphasized that Planet Community will not rely on traditional trade-attribution revenue-sharing models as its long-term incentive mechanism—primarily due to two considerations: Strict attribution raises barriers to creator monetization, while loose attribution risks over-rewarding; moreover, trade-based revenue sharing discourages a diversified content ecosystem—especially non-trading content such as emotional value or macro-policy analysis.
To address this, Planet Community adopts a more dynamic incentive model, with core dimensions including: (1) the intrinsic value of community users themselves, (2) the duration users spend consuming content within the community, and (3) the quality and frequency of effective interactions between content consumers and creators. Under this framework, incentives exhibit three defining characteristics:
- First, a generous weekly cash prize pool—sufficient and even abundant—will expand continuously alongside growing community influence and user scale, ensuring highly competitive rewards.
- Second, the larger a user’s trading volume and fee payments, the stronger their engagement with creators—and correspondingly, the higher the associated incentive. This truly enables “user value to feed back to creators.”
- Third, the principle of “publish once, earn forever”: Even if a creator’s post goes viral again months later, all resulting valid interactions and earned points continue generating income for the creator.
Jason also outlined practical pathways for creators to attract more traffic and earn greater incentives: completing and optimizing personal profiles; showcasing real-time trading records; publishing high-quality long-form content; actively participating in trending topics and discussions; sharing actionable trading analyses and reusable components to help newcomers convert; and strictly adhering to community content policies to avoid reports.
In addition to weekly recurring incentives, Planet Community will roll out periodic community competitions (e.g., the “Planet Wars” trading contest launching post–Spring Festival, featuring both individual and group leaderboards), live-stream tipping, paid membership communities, and paid Q&A sessions—offering diverse monetization options. The platform pledges zero revenue share, committing instead to grow alongside creators.
The above weekly incentives will officially launch and be made publicly available in February.
Long-Term Vision: Social Interaction Is Essential—Bull or Bear
Although Planet Community remains in its early stages, Jason candidly acknowledged that the team is young and lean—but consistently upholds OKX’s hallmark caution and rigor: it avoids rushing into new verticals without first achieving clear, validated understanding. Over the past year, the team has explored user social needs through multiple dimensions—including online content, AI-powered summaries, and group chats—gaining deep insight into the fundamental, enduring demand for social interaction: regardless of market conditions, people need connection—seeking opportunities in bull markets, and emotional value and certainty in bear markets.
Planet Community’s baseline goal is to deliver emotional value and enable information exchange; its long-term ambition is to become a launchpad for new opportunities—and achieve multi-layered, organic integration with the broader OKX platform:
- Product level: Already integrated with CeFi features—including built-in trading, interest-earning, and new-token campaigns;
- Information level: Building professional discussion forums and competitive arenas around frontier sectors like RWA and AI—to attract cross-industry creators and users;
