Onlookers are all waiting for this call—will Trump achieve a "historic reconciliation" with Musk?
Feelings can be like a drop tower ride, but everyone's account balance can't take the plunge 🙅.

While Wall Street is still digesting the shockwaves from the public rift between Trump and Musk, the White House has quietly launched a crisis PR campaign—arranging a phone call tonight between Trump and Musk. Aides have advised Trump to focus on pushing the "Big Beautiful" bill through the Senate, rather than dwelling on his conflict with Musk.
Just as Wall Street grapples with the fallout of this high-profile feud, will a single phone call scheduled for Friday night pave the way for a "century-making reconciliation"?
Last night, the U.S. political stage witnessed a dramatic 180-degree turn. On the very day Musk launched fierce attacks against Trump’s "Big Beautiful" bill, the president struck a remarkably calm tone in an interview with international media.
"Oh, that's okay," Trump said during a press call when asked about his public split with his former top donor. "Everything is going great—better than ever before." He then went on to boast about his approval ratings: "The numbers are through the roof. This is the highest polling I've ever had."
This nonchalant attitude stands in stark contrast to the fiery social media exchanges between the two men just hours earlier. More importantly, Trump’s team has already arranged a call between the president and Musk tonight, aiming to broker peace.
Wall Street Heavyweights Rush to Extinguish the Fire
When the feud between two of the world’s most powerful men threatens legislation involving trillions of dollars, financial heavyweights can no longer stay silent. Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman was among the first to call for a ceasefire on X.
"I support both Trump and Musk. They should reconcile for the good of our great nation."

Musk’s reply was telling: "You’re right."
One user, Alaska, urged both sides to calm down and take a step back. Musk responded: "Good advice. I won’t retire the Dragon spacecraft."
This subtle remark was interpreted by markets as a positive signal, indicating Musk’s openness to de-escalation. Prominent media figure Joe Weisenthal remarked that a tiny account with only 184 followers had “facilitated the reconciliation of the two most powerful people on Earth.”

Can the Feud Finally End?
According to media reports citing sources close to the White House, Trump’s aides have been urging the president to tone down his public criticism of Musk to prevent further escalation. These efforts showed results on Thursday, as Trump noticeably moderated his language on his Truth Social platform.
"I don't mind Elon opposing me, but he should have done so months ago," Trump wrote, before pivoting to emphasize the importance of the bill:
"This is one of the greatest bills ever submitted to Congress."
White House aides have advised Trump to focus on advancing the bill through the Senate rather than getting entangled in a feud with Musk.
The core of the dispute centers on Trump’s "Big Beautiful" bill—a sweeping piece of legislation consolidating the president’s key agenda items, ranging from tax cuts to immigration enforcement. Musk has voiced strong objections over the bill’s projected $2.4 trillion increase in the deficit, a disagreement that directly triggered their public clash.
With the bill facing a critical vote in the Senate, any political noise that could jeopardize its passage is now seen as an unacceptable risk. The phone call on Friday may well determine whether this ambitious legislation moves forward—and whether the personal rivalry between two titans of industry will yield to larger political realities.
