Moving from Ethereum, exploring new frontiers for airdrops
Once, the ETH mainnet was the golden vein of airdrops; by 2025, the trail to major gains had quietly shifted—Base, BNB, Sui, and Berachain became synonymous with the new frontier.

Once, the ETH mainnet was a golden mine for airdrops. But by 2025, the landscape has quietly shifted—Base, BNB, Sui, and Berachain have become synonymous with the new frontier.
We’ve unpacked the logic behind this trend and tried to answer one key question:
Where should airdrop hunters go next?

Airdrops ≠ hard work—it’s about direction

1/5 "The higher the gas, the pricier the fish!"
Jason, who entered crypto in 2022, once paid over $1,000 in gas fees interacting with Opensea. A simple approve-and-send transaction cost him $120—half a week’s salary. “Opensea had high valuations, big funding rounds, and top-tier investors. It was clearly going to be a major airdrop. The gas I burned would be nothing compared to what I’d earn later.”
But by 2025, Jason had already left crypto for nearly a year. “I never made any money. My accounts on Zksync and LayerZero were all flagged as Sybil attacks. I even paid for fingerprint browsers and dedicated IPs—still don’t know where it went wrong. Ended up going back to my old job.”
In February 2025, Opensea suddenly announced, “We’re launching our token!” After work, Jason casually opened the website. What greeted him? Familiar tactics: points, mystery boxes, and XP (experience points).

2/5 How long has it been since you heard news about an Ethereum ecosystem airdrop?
Forget about those rags-to-riches “airdrop myths” that have vanished from X—they’ve disappeared entirely. Even legendary airdrop influencers have pivoted. In 2025, well-known airdrop blogger Bingwa @Ice_Frog666666 began publicly disputing projects like Kiloex and Corn, carving out a new identity as a “rights advocate.”
Take January 2025, during a relatively strong market period: among 14 newly launched airdrop projects, nearly zero originated from native ETH ecosystem initiatives. Most public chain projects opted to launch mainnets directly with token airdrops, while others flocked to lower-GAS, exchange-backed chains like @base or @BNBCHAIN.
Compare this to the glory days of 2021, when ETH reigned supreme. Today, despite ETH gas fees dropping from tens of dollars to just a few—or even below $1—the number of projects announcing launches on the ETH mainnet isn’t rising. It’s shrinking. Part of the reason is that @solana has become a haven for new users, and BNB Chain has turned into a de facto requirement for projects aiming to list on Binance. But more importantly, Ethereum’s once-celebrated innovation and developer activity are waning. Community frustration toward the Ethereum Foundation is growing louder by the day.

3/5 Real “big rewards” never ask where you came from—they just want to send you money.
@WalrusProtocol is an airdrop project officially recognized by Sui Network. After Binance announced futures listing on March 28, it became the brightest airdrop star of Q1. Walrus set simple criteria—even basic “welfare accounts” only needed to deposit a minimum of 0.1 Sui to earn roughly 15x returns.
At first glance, Walrus stands out: $140 million raised, $2 billion valuation, backed by elite investors including Standard Crypto, a16z crypto fund, Electric Capital, and Franklin Templeton’s digital assets division.
In the past, such pedigrees were exclusive to Ethereum ecosystem projects. Now, however, more and more marquee projects with similar profiles are choosing emerging chains like Sui and Berachain as their home.
These projects share clear common traits: execution-focused teams, steadily rising token prices, and attempts to break all-time highs.

4/5 Migrate from Ethereum—Head to the new frontier of airdrops.
In business, a blue ocean represents an opportunity-rich, low-competition market, while a red ocean signifies fierce, often cutthroat rivalry. For years, Ethereum was the “noble chain” of airdrops—newcomers rushed into Ethereum L2s, while seasoned players calmly collected generous rewards on the ETH mainnet. But times change. As market conditions cool and the airdrop space becomes hyper-competitive, Ethereum has now become a red ocean. To keep earning solid airdrop returns, players must board the next-generation “Mayflower” and sail to uncharted territories.
So where is this new frontier? Right now, @SuiNetwork and @berachain seem to hold the answers. By closely examining these two emerging ecosystems, we can identify several shared characteristics:
1. High valuations and large fundraising rounds;
2. Native tokens already listed on major exchanges;
3. Strong ecosystem incentives and financial backing from the chain itself;
4. Projects within the ecosystem have generally secured quality funding;
5. Adoption of classic airdrop mechanics—low barrier, high return—with emphasis on zero-cost farming, testnets, and simple staking activities.
Following this blueprint, here are some hot projects to watch:
• Core protocols in the Berachain ecosystem: @KodiakFi, @InfraredFinance, @beraborrow, @GummiFi;
• High-attention protocols on Sui: @HaedalProtocol, @AftermathFi.
5/5 Choosing wisely beats working hard—ride the cycle
Famous crypto influencer @keyahayek once described the power of cycles: “Those who grasp the nature of markets within one or two cycles are destined for a different fate than those who never understand it, even after a lifetime.”
Within the rhythmic rise and fall of crypto markets, both projects and users experience booms and busts—seeking wealth in bull runs, yet often misstepping amid rapid changes. Yet truly cyclical projects often deliver a perfect “deep V” in price performance and consistently reward early supporters through ecosystem growth. As airdrop hunters, there's really only one thing we need to do from start to finish:
Patiently wait—and enjoy the game.
