Vitalik enters "battle-ready mode," frequently engaging and responding to community skepticism
Vitalik Buterin explained that the Ethereum Foundation hopes to avoid being forced into an "official choice" in the event of a contentious hard fork.

Andy, host of the crypto show "The Rollup," cited Kaito AI data indicating that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has recently entered "battle mode," achieving the highest "KOL attention score" over the past seven days at 1.69%, followed by Mert Mumtaz, CEO of Helius Labs, at 1.18%.
Vitalik Pushes Back Against Criticism of Ethereum Foundation
Recently, Ethereum and the Ethereum Foundation have faced significant criticism. With ETH underperforming this year, market participants expressed discontent over the Ethereum Foundation’s frequent ETH sales. In response, Vitalik Buterin published a lengthy post on X defending the Foundation's periodic sale of ETH.
Buterin explained that proceeds from these sales are used to fund Ethereum developers and researchers, sustain the PoS mechanism, enable low-fee transactions finalized within 30 seconds, support privacy features via zero-knowledge proofs, and maintain uninterrupted network operation since 2016:
"Ethereum no longer issues 5 million new ETH annually due to PoW. Users now enjoy low fees and transaction finality within 30 seconds instead of 1–30 minutes (thanks to EIP-1559). Show some respect."

When asked why the Ethereum Foundation doesn’t stake all its ETH holdings and use staking rewards to cover expenses instead of selling ETH directly, Buterin clarified that the Foundation aims to avoid being forced into making an “official stance” during contentious hard forks.

However, Buterin noted that the Foundation is exploring alternative approaches to staking, such as distributing staked ETH as grants—allowing recipients control over withdrawal timing while retaining rewards. He also mentioned considering delegating the Foundation’s staking responsibilities to other organizations.
As negative sentiment around Ethereum continues to spread, Vitalik Buterin has become increasingly vocal on X, frequently sharing technical roadmaps and insights on Ethereum’s future phases—Merge, Surge, Scourge, Verge, and Purge—all of which could significantly shape Ethereum’s long-term trajectory.
