The advancement of blockchain technology is driven by the demand for higher throughput, lower latency, and more efficient transaction processing. The emergence of high-throughput public blockchains like Monad represents a significant leap forward—Monad aims to deliver 10,000 transactions per second with one-second block finality. However, as blockchains aggressively optimize performance, they also face challenges such as inefficient miner extractable value (MEV), high gas fees, and centralization risks.
2. Why We Invested in aPriori?
aPriori’s mission is to address fundamental challenges in the MEV landscape on Monad by developing high-performance infrastructure tailored specifically for its network. Here are the reasons we’re excited about aPriori:
(1) Innovative MEV Infrastructure
aPriori is building robust MEV infrastructure that enables Monad validators to source blocks from external builder networks and benefit from MEV-related activities. Inspired by companies like Flashbots and Jito Labs, aPriori has made core architectural updates to adapt to Monad’s unique design. Their solution involves partial block auctions, allowing block headers to be constructed from transaction bundles submitted by searchers, while validators append the remaining transactions from the public mempool. This significantly reduces latency and eliminates the need to simulate full block proposals.
(2) Enhanced User Experience
By introducing structure into the MEV market, aPriori contributes to the decentralization of the Monad network and improves the overall user experience through reduced gas fees, sustainable incentives for validators, and minimized validator and node traffic.
(3) Strategic Liquid Staking Solution
aPriori’s liquid staking product offers investors greater flexibility and utility, enabling users to maintain liquidity of their assets while earning MEV and staking rewards. Leveraging their MEV infrastructure, aPriori has created a technical moat around their liquid staking solution. Their close relationship with key oracle providers in the Monad ecosystem allows them to rapidly establish oracle price feeds—an essential component for driving DeFi adoption. This strategic positioning enables aPriori to address major challenges faced by other liquid staking protocols.
(4) Exceptional Team
aPriori’s greatest strength lies in its outstanding team of industry veterans with deep expertise in blockchain and high-frequency trading. Key members of the executive team include:
CEO Ray: Previously led special projects at Jump Crypto and served as a high-frequency trader at Flow Traders. As a contributor to Pyth Network, Ray brings extensive middleware development experience, having helped scale the protocol to 30 chains and support over 150 dApps.
CTO Olivia: Former senior software engineer at Coinbase, where she designed and built an internal distributed tracing pipeline capable of handling one million trace events per second. She brings deep expertise in infrastructure and highly available systems.
