8 Full-Chain Game Builders to Watch in 2024
With these eight Builders at the helm, the future of fully on-chain gaming is bright.

We don't yet live in a world dominated by AI agents, so behind every game or infrastructure there is a super builder (or many) doing the work.
Today, we’ll take a look at eight individuals helping to push on-chain gaming forward—builders to watch in 2024.
Let’s get started!
Note: This is a subjective list! These are just my picks. Builders are not ranked in any particular order, and there are many other great builders in this space I didn’t have room to include.
Tax Cuts

Tax Cuts is the co-founder of Primodium, one of the most popular fully on-chain games.
Primodium is an on-chain MMO and factory simulator inspired by Factorio, built using MUD.
Your goal in the game is to build a galactic empire by gathering resources and engaging in PVP battles with other players.
Tax Cuts and the team plan to release a new update, v0.1, sometime in the coming weeks, along with working toward mainnet launch (date TBD).
The v0.1 update and mainnet launch will be exciting not only for Primates (fans of Primodium), but should also help onboard new players while sparking an explosion of interesting mods and expansions.
Sebasiten Guillemot

Sebasiten Guillemot is the co-founder of Paima Studios.
Paima is building a framework for developing on-chain games across L2s and testing its technology through its flagship game, Tarochi.
Tarochi is a Pokemon-like on-chain RPG where you battle and collect NFT monsters.
The game recently minted its Genesis Trainer NFT—a 10K NFT collection that accelerates gameplay and grants access to limited-edition mints—in preparation for Season 1, launching on February 15th with mobile support.
I expect Tarochi to gain significant traction over the next few months, and if it does, this could attract more teams to build with the Paima Engine.
Small Brain

Small Brain is the founder of Small Brain Games.
Small Brain Games is a studio focused on serially launching on-chain games, aiming to deploy a new game on mainnet every six weeks. It has already developed multiple titles across genres, including Words3 (a PVP word-building game), Network States (a PVP strategy game), and Drawtech (a financialized drawing game).
These games share common traits: they’re easy to pick up, feature unique mechanics, and often give you a chance to win (or lose) ETH.
Small Brain jokes about building a new game—I’m excited to see what else he creates in 2024 and beyond.
Amitt Mahajan

Amitt Mahajan is a co-founder of Farmville and now the founder of Proof of Play.
Proof of Play is the studio behind Pirate Nation, an RPG where you explore, battle, and craft NFT items.
Proof of Play is also developing infrastructure, including its own on-chain game engine, and raised a $33M seed round in 2023 led by a16z and Greenoaks.
The team recently announced a PvP mode for holders of Founder's Pirates—the game’s flagship NFT collection—who will be able to stake PGLD and battle other players at sea.
PvP sounds fun, so I expect Pirate Nation to keep growing over the next few months as this new feature (and others) roll out to a wider audience.
Kooshaza and Kooshaba

So far, we’ve covered individual builders—but now let’s highlight a builder duo.
Kooshaza and Kooshaba are brothers who are building Sky Strife at Lattice.
Sky Strife is an RTS game where you compete in turn-based PVP matches, aiming to capture opponents’ bases while defending your own.
Built with MUD, Sky Strife is currently mid-Season 0.2—the third continuous playtest since November 2023 on the Redstone Holesky testnet.
The game is not only fun, but also showcases the capabilities of Lattice’s infrastructure.
I’ll be participating and closely watching what Kooshaza and Kooshaba build as they prepare for Sky Strife’s upcoming mainnet launch.
Scott Sunarto

Scott Sunarto is the founder and CEO of Argus Labs.
Argus is the team behind World Engine, a sharded Rollup SDK that enables developers to create their own horizontally scalable L2s optimized for hosting on-chain games.
They also develop games using their own stack and operate an internal research lab.
In 2023, Argus raised $10M in an A round led by Haun Ventures and launched Dark Frontier, a standalone reimagining of Dark Forest and the first game built with World Engine.
I’m very interested to see how Scott and Argus compete in the “engine wars” against MUD, Dojo, Paima, Curio, and others to attract game developers.
Komorebi

Komorebi is the founder of AW House, a multifaceted organization that runs hacker houses globally, provides grants, and conducts research.
Komorebi also runs a studio called Baratie, which launched RedSwap, the first DEX on Redstone, and recently relaunched 1337, a game where you attempt to land the number 1337 as a Frame on Farcaster.
The Komorebi Hacker House is scheduled for February 28th to March 4th during ETH Denver—it should be a solid source of alpha for emerging on-chain games.
I’m excited to see the results and what else he builds through Baratie!
Betting on These Builders
Whether they’re building games, infrastructure, or both, each of these eight builders is leading projects that are pushing the on-chain gaming ecosystem forward.
They—and other talented builders in the space—are worth watching so you can stay close to what they’re cooking up.
When on-chain gaming reaches escape velocity, many of the games on this list may receive the same reverence as OG DeFi founders.
We don’t yet know which on-chain games will become the "Uniswap, Aave, Synthetix, and Maker" of this space.
But we do know this: with these eight builders at the helm, the future of fully on-chain gaming looks bright.
