CZ predicts: Crypto winter may last 18 months, bullish on the arrival of a bull market in 2025
CZ said that based on historical trends, bull markets always appear one year after a halving.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) participated in a weekly Twitter Space AMA session this week, discussing current hot topics in the cryptocurrency market and sharing his views on future market trends.
CZ: The current crypto winter could last at least 18 months
When asked whether a bull market has already begun, CZ did not give a clear yes or no answer, saying he's uncertain if the market will repeat historical patterns, as "nobody can predict the market."
CZ added that historically, bull markets tend to emerge about a year after Bitcoin halving events. Based on this, he predicted:
The bitcoin and broader crypto price winter could last at least 18 months (one and a half years). Binance hopes to be prepared for higher trading volumes, and we are actively upgrading our trading systems in anticipation of the next bull market.
However, CZ also expressed optimism, noting that trading volumes have started to stabilize in recent weeks compared to the bleak period following the FTX collapse in November last year. Factors such as new applications for spot Bitcoin ETFs and the upcoming Bitcoin block reward halving in mid-2024 are contributing positively.
Bullish on a 2025 bull market
Last month, JPMorgan analysts said they expect the 2024 Bitcoin halving to drive price increases. If investors allocate bitcoin (BTC) into portfolios at parity with gold, BTC’s price could reach $45,000.
While CZ emphasized that prices cannot be predicted and repeatedly warned about the risks of Bitcoin's volatility, he still believes 2025 will be a key cycle for crypto’s return to a bull market, potentially pushing Bitcoin beyond its all-time high from late 2021 (i.e., $68,000).
Looking at Bitcoin's past cycles: the bull runs of 2013, 2017, and 2021 share many similarities. If you look back, there is a clear pattern.
