ETH Shanghai 2023 summit and hackathon即将举办
ETHShanghai is a summit initiated by Mask Network to promote the Ethereum network and encourage more developers to join the Ethereum and Web3 communities.

ETHShanghai 2023 Summit and Hackathon (ethshanghai.org) will take place from June 25 to July 7. This year's ETHShanghai is jointly organized by core teams including Mask Network, THUBA (Tsinghua University Blockchain Association), ChainIDE, and Moonshot Commons.
ETHShanghai is a summit initiated by Mask Network to promote the Ethereum network and encourage more developers to join the Ethereum and Web3 communities. At the ETHShanghai 2022 Summit, notable speakers included Terry Branstad, former U.S. Ambassador to China, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, and Joseph Lubin, founder and CEO of ConsenSys. The concurrent hackathon attracted nearly 1,000 participants and over 200 project submissions.
Over the past year, Ethereum completed its Shanghai upgrade, further enhancing performance and scalability; AI technologies have advanced significantly, offering intelligent support for decentralized applications; the concept of Web3 has gained broader recognition among users, with dApps continuously reshaping how people perceive and use the internet, while also attracting increased legislative attention. In light of these developments, we will bring together renowned experts, technical leaders, and industry practitioners to explore key topics such as Ethereum’s potential, expansion of decentralized applications, and emerging opportunities and challenges.

This year’s hackathon aims to gather an even more diverse group of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs, providing them with a platform for free innovation and collectively advancing technological progress within the Ethereum community.
The hackathon features five dedicated tracks centered around Ethereum and current technological trends:
-
ETH Infra: Projects focused on developing tools and services built on the Ethereum platform to support the broader ecosystem.
-
Layer2: Participants will explore Layer2 solutions aimed at improving Ethereum’s scalability and transaction speed without compromising decentralization.
-
Applications: Developers will brainstorm, design, and build real-world applications on Ethereum, turning innovative ideas into practical solutions.
-
AI and Blockchain: Exploring the integration of AI and blockchain to create applications that leverage the combined strengths of both cutting-edge technologies.
-
Development Tools: Building or refining tools that streamline and enhance the development process for Ethereum and other blockchain platforms.
An estimated 1,500 developers are expected to participate online in this year’s hackathon, igniting creativity and driving innovation and breakthroughs across the Ethereum and broader Web3 ecosystems.
ETHShanghai 2023 Summit
The ETHShanghai 2023 Summit will take place on June 29–30, focusing on Ethereum’s open-source technology ecosystem. It will delve into foundational blockchain infrastructure, decentralized storage, on-chain data processing, Layer2, zero-knowledge proof technologies, developer tools, and the convergence of Web3 and AI. The summit will feature in-depth discussions on topics ranging from Web3 digital economies and the future of decentralized social networks to the role of Asian Web3 developers.

Against the backdrop of shifting global economic policies and Hong Kong’s progressive rollout of Web3 regulatory frameworks, we are honored to welcome Jim Rogers, renowned American investor and bestselling author of “Adventure Capitalist: The Ultimate Road Trip,” who will join Suji Yan, founder of Mask Network, in discussing the position and potential of Asia’s Web3 industry within the global economic landscape. Professor Yang Wang, Vice President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will analyze market opportunities and challenges facing the Web3 sector. Kenneth Kiu, Chairman of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, will examine Hong Kong’s strengths as an international financial hub and how it can integrate with Web3 technologies.
Within the Ethereum ecosystem, Tim Beiko from the Ethereum Foundation will deliver a keynote address. As a core Ethereum developer and community coordinator, Tim brings deep expertise and insights into Ethereum’s technological evolution and community growth, offering attendees a comprehensive understanding of the ecosystem. Additionally, Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of Near, and Sam Williams, co-founder of Arweave, will also present featured talks.
ETHShanghai is committed to promoting the Ethereum network, fostering wider recognition and adoption, encouraging more developers to join the Web3 community, and collectively building a decentralized internet toward a more open, transparent, and secure digital world.
