WEB3 ASIA SUMMIT KL Blockchain Summit
Taking place over two days on December 22 and 23 at the HGH Convention Centre in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, this is Malaysia’s inaugural nationwide blockchain summit. Featuring keynote speeches and panel discussions led by industry pioneers across the blockchain space, the summit aims to promote public understanding and knowledge sharing about blockchain technology. Attendees will gain valuable insights and stay updated on the latest trends shaping the future of blockchain. Sponsors will also set up information booths onsite, allowing participants to explore and engage with teams actively building in the blockchain ecosystem.
This blockchain summit is hosted by streaming media platform WebTVAsia, co-organized by Zhonghua 90 DAO—the premier Chinese-language blockchain community—and proudly supported by Dcoreum as Diamond Sponsor, a WEB3-based decentralized business ecosystem network. Platinum sponsors include WebTVAsia, Versailles Heroes, X Infinity, and CeresDAO, with Silver sponsors Demon War, Nbuilder, and X Pay providing additional support. The summit is honored to partner with media outlets Jinse Finance, Coinlive, and TechFlow to jointly promote this landmark event.
Held in Kuala Lumpur as its first stop, this WEB3 Asia Blockchain Summit aims to promote and evangelize blockchain technology together with builders across the ecosystem. Through dialogue and engagement, it seeks to build consensus among participants, cultivate greater interest in blockchain innovation, position Malaysia as a key accelerator for blockchain technologies, and ensure Asia plays a pivotal role in global WEB3 development—keeping pace with, and even surpassing, world-leading technological advancements.

NFT – Non-Fungible Tokens
Since the NFT boom began in 2021—from Cryptopunks and BAYC to celebrities and KOLs launching their own NFT projects—what exactly does NFT represent? Is it merely digital art collectibles or a powerful utility tool? While many people became aware of NFTs through their favorite stars or influencers launching projects, some made impulsive purchases without fully understanding NFTs, resulting in financial losses. Others failed to secure their WEB3 assets properly, leading to theft by hackers.
Over the two-day summit, NFT-focused sessions will kick off on Thursday, December 22. First, Kai, artistic designer from Unreality, will demystify the essence of non-fungible tokens with his talk titled "What is an NFT? Digital Assets Explained for Beginners." This will be followed by an influencer panel featuring content creator Cody, celebrity Haoren, HeeYeoWang from HerWorldsNFT, and Thomas Kok and Joan Colorversee from Artiste, discussing "How Can KOLs Empower Real-World Applications When Launching NFT Projects?" Next, Captain Koh from Verofax Asia will present on "The Benefits of NFTs for Mainstream Enterprises." Then, Shrug Newton, founder of Double Protocol and creator of ERC4907—the first Chinese-developed Ethereum protocol—will explore "NFT Financialization." Finally, Nicole Yap from 8SIAN will deliver a keynote on "The Boundaries and Future of Digital Art." Additionally, Liu Feng, former President of Baidu Literature and COO of Xunlei Group, now founder of Nbuilder, will share insights on "The Content Revolution Brought by AIGC to the NFT Industry, as Seen Through Nbuilder."
Metaverse
On the afternoon of Day One, the summit will dive into topics related to the Metaverse, including intersections between GameFi and NFTs, as the early foundations of the Metaverse largely stem from GameFi innovations. Though the Metaverse may seem distant, it is increasingly within reach. At its core, the Metaverse enables individuals anywhere in the world to connect via the internet and use blockchain technology to interact seamlessly—whether socially, economically, or communicatively.
In this session, Marshell Chen, CEO of DAEX Exchange, will share insights on "How Far Has the Metaverse Progressed So Far?" This will be followed by Shas Fung from Star Symphony speaking on "New Opportunities in the Metaverse and GameFi." Next, George Wong from The Sandbox, Dato Fadzli from MX Global, Irene Umar from YYGSEA, and Marrtin Hoon from MetaOne will join a panel discussion titled "The Decentralized Future of the Metaverse: Opportunities and Importance in Web3." Another roundtable will follow, featuring Daniel from Versailles Heroes, Alvin Liu Mu Zhen, founder of Demon War, Kelvin Fong from The Next World, exploring "GameFi Business Models: Is Play-to-Earn Still Viable?" Finally, the CTO of SOJO Technology and MOD of Zhonghua 90 DAO will close the segment with a talk on "Challenges and the Future of GameFi"—don’t miss these highly anticipated discussions.
CeFi & DeFi – Centralized and Decentralized Finance
Blockchain technology brings revolutionary change, most notably through decentralization—removing centralized control and returning verification and governance rights directly to users. This ensures transparency and traceability of data, enabling financial systems to operate via smart contracts in a decentralized manner, giving rise to DeFi (Decentralized Finance). However, both CeFi (Centralized Finance) and DeFi have their strengths: CeFi benefits from government recognition and regulation, while DeFi places full ownership in the hands of users. At this WEB3 Asia Blockchain Summit, experts will examine the pros and cons of both models, helping newcomers understand what they can learn and leverage from each.
On Friday, December 23—the second day of WEB3 ASIA SUMMIT KL—Jason Chew from Access and representative of Ethereum Malaysia will explain why "The Future is DeFi." This will be followed by David Yu, President of Huobi University, sharing his outlook on "Web3 Industry Trends in 2023." Next, Beh, Malaysia Development Manager at Poloniex, and Hew from SOJO Technology will discuss "Current State and Trends in DeFi and CeFi." Ryan Liew from Copia will then present on "Pathways to Institutional Adoption." Following that, a knowledge-packed panel titled "Security and Commercial Viability of DeFi and CeFi" will feature Arravind, founder of Cryptobilis; Yudhishthra, representative of APU Blockchain Society; and John Kiew from authoritative blockchain audit firm CertiK, jointly discussing the complexities of centralized vs. decentralized finance. After the panel, Jack from CeresDAO will share insights on "Web3 Investment Management Strategies." Versailles will send Nelson to speak on "Current Uncertainties in GameFi and Its Future Development." Closing the session, Ross from Luno Exchange will address "The Importance of Regulation in the Crypto Industry and How Cryptocurrencies Can Gain Approval in Malaysia."
DAO – Decentralized Autonomous Organizations
On the afternoon of Day Two, the summit will focus on Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). The concept of DAOs dates back to Ethereum’s early development in 2016. However, early implementations were immature—vulnerable smart contract flaws led to fund misappropriation. Even today, certain DAOs fall short of truly embodying decentralization and autonomy. This stems from blockchain applications still being in experimental phases. Builders continue refining their expertise daily, iteratively improving smart contracts so that DAOs can one day revolutionize organizational management—enabling automated, self-governed structures ranging from small communities to multinational corporations based on meritocracy and contribution.
First, Jason, a key figure from Malaysia-born KopiDAO, will speak on "DAOs and the Future of Work." Next, Blockman Vince Lim from METAVI will explain "DAO Education as the Key to Unlocking Web3.0 Opportunities." Then, Hong Qi Gong, founder of Foodie Continent, will share "The Great Crypto Voyage Era and Malaysia’s Epic Comeback." Finally, Eddie, Founder and President of X Infinity, will present on "The Evolution and Operational Mechanics of DAOs."
