Lightspeedでは、2013年3月以降、この分野に選択的に投資してきました（初回投資はRipple、その後1年でBlockchainに投資）。過去8年間で、ブロックチェーン/Web3に関する実際の応用におけるインフラへの投資ペースは加速しており、2021年にはこれまでに40件以上のブロックチェーン/Web3関連の取引に約5億ドルを投資しました（さらに数件の取引が発表待ちです）。今年の投資案件には、FTX、Solana、Terra、Alchemy、Parallel Finance、LedgerX、Blockchain.comなどが含まれます。

1）ここ20年以上にわたりインフラソフトウェアに投資してきた私たちにとって、新たな開発者プラットフォームやセキュリティ・保険プロバイダーなど、Web3インフラの台頭にも期待しています。L2の登場により、イーサリアムのスケーラビリティはこうしたコアインフラ領域の一つであり、この分野への積極的な投資を嬉しく思います。
2）次世代NFTは、トークンや収益といった価値あるものをユーザーに返す「機能的価値」を持つユーティリティ型やゲームNFTが主導すると信じています。これは、ゲーム内でプレイしながらトークンを稼げるオンラインゲーム（アバター）のキャラクターモデルNFT、毎日の広告収益を生むデジタル看板のNFT、収益を上げる不動産資産のNFTなど、あらゆるものに及びます。
3）次の10億人のユーザーが今後5年以内に加わると信じており、その中でも有望なユースケースはゲームとソーシャルネットワークだと考えます。そのため、過去10年間でEpic Games、Snap、Sharechat、SplitgateなどのWeb2企業にも投資してきました。Web3では、ゲームやソーシャルの形がまったく異なるものとなる可能性があります。
4）Web3は文化・社会現象でもあり、音楽、芸術、学習、スポーツ、インフルエンサー、その他分野での活用が大規模普及にとって極めて重要だと考えます。
