TechFlow reports that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik recently stated on the podcast "Bell Curve" that what ultimately determines the success of cryptocurrency is its real-world application. Cryptocurrency would be considered successful if it becomes mainstream, or at least a credible mainstream alternative like Linux.
For example, if Ethereum accounts can replace social media logins, or if cryptocurrencies become part of the financial system, DAOs serve as alternatives to traditional corporations or nonprofits, and decentralized social media or prediction markets achieve widespread adoption.
Conversely, it would be disappointing if the cryptocurrency space is ultimately remembered as a group of dwindling idealists constantly shouting into the void, or merely a community trading digital monkeys and celebrity photos among themselves.
