TechFlow reports, July 18, according to Cointelegraph, blockchain company Consensys engaged a software development consultant under the alias Tyler Knapp through a reputable third-party service provider earlier this year. Subsequent investigations revealed links to North Korea. The individual had access to certain company systems for approximately one month. The incident led Consensys to temporarily suspend product releases and initiate an internal investigation.
Consensys General Counsel Matt Corva stated that Knapp participated solely as a consultant and never became a formal company employee. Consensys immediately revoked all his access privileges upon discovering the security risk and initiated a comprehensive investigation. The investigation results showed that no assets or data were stolen, no deployment of malicious code was found, and user security and assets remained unaffected.
Consensys stated that it will reevaluate the outsourcing and personnel review processes for engineering and software development work.
