TechFlow News, June 12: Trump stated that the upcoming U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) requires the immediate resumption of unrestricted and toll-free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, along with phased sanctions relief contingent upon Iran’s compliance. The agreement proposes extending the ceasefire by 60 days, expanding its scope to include Lebanon, and advancing nuclear negotiations during this period. Reports indicate that the U.S. and Iran have reached consensus on the text of the agreement but still require final approval. The MoU includes a framework for addressing Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium; Iran pledges not to pursue nuclear weapons, though detailed arrangements on nuclear issues will be finalized in subsequent, more comprehensive agreements.
Additionally, the agreement requires shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to return to pre-war levels within 30 days. In exchange, the U.S. will lift related blockade measures and permit Iran to resume oil exports for a specified period. Should Iran continue fulfilling its commitments and demonstrate “good faith” in subsequent negotiations, the scope of sanctions relief will be further expanded. (Jinshi)
