Solana-based metaverse project Solice raises $4.3M led by Three Arrows Capital
December 2 — Solice, a metaverse project built on Solana, has raised $4.3 million in funding led by Three Arrows Capital, with participation from Alameda Research, Jump Capital, Genblock Capital, Kucoin Labs, Solar Eco Fund, CMS Holdings, and Rarestone Capital. Christian Zhang, founder of Solice, said the game will feature a native token and NFT-backed in-game assets that include financialization elements within the game economy. Solice is a cross-platform PC and virtual reality (VR) game modeled after Decentraland and The Sandbox. A soft launch is scheduled for Q1 2022.
Metaverse social platform Loot Squad raises $5M seed round led by Delphi Digital
December 2 — Metaverse social platform Loot Squad has completed a $5 million seed funding round led by Delphi Digital. The new funds will be used to scale up its Adventurers program, invest in gaming assets, and develop consumer products to improve growth and stability in P2E gaming. Since its inception in May, the project has grown into a major community-driven guild and currently leads the NFT gaming sector in guild community size. A new roadmap will be released later this month.

December 2 — Multi-chain GameFi infrastructure provider Froyo Games has closed a $1.6 million strategic funding round led by Animoca Brands. Spartan Group, GBV Capital, BTC12 Capital, Mirana Ventures, Avocado Guild, Hooga Gaming, Chain Capital, Genblock Capital, Icetea Labs, Gamefi, Bigcoin Capital, Gate Labs, Newman Capital, and KOI Capital also participated. The funding will support Froyo Games’ operations and product development.
Encryption asset custody platform Fireblocks raises $400M in Series E led by Sequoia Capital
December 2 — According to The Information, cryptocurrency custody platform Fireblocks has raised $400 million in its Series E round at an $8 billion valuation, with participation from Sequoia Capital. This brings its total funding to $889 million to date. In July, Fireblocks raised $310 million in a Series D round at a $2 billion valuation. Participants in the latest round include Sequoia Capital, Stripes, Spark Capital, Coatue, DRW VC, and SCB 10X, the venture arm of Siam Commercial Bank. Fireblocks counts major institutional clients such as BNY Mellon and crypto asset management firm Galaxy Digital among its users. Following the Series D round, former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton joined Fireblocks’ advisory board.

IDEX launches its "hybrid liquidity" DEX on Polygon
IDEX has officially launched its "hybrid liquidity" decentralized exchange (DEX) on Polygon, Ethereum’s scaling solution. IDEX v3 combines two of the most popular DEX designs—order book and automated market maker (AMM)—into one system. In addition to extensive redesigns, IDEX addresses the soaring transaction fees associated with operating on Ethereum.

Defiance ETFs launches first NFT-focused ETF
December 2 — New York-based Defiance ETFs is launching an exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused exclusively on NFTs. The NFTZ fund will track the performance of the BITA NFT and Blockchain Select Index, which includes NFT-related companies, blockchain firms, and crypto equities such as NFT marketplaces, Coinbase, and Playboy. Defiance says the index will be rebalanced quarterly. According to its website, Defiance is an ETF issuer and investment advisor specializing in thematic investing.

Crust Network integrates Solana, offering IPFS-compatible decentralized storage solution
December 2 — Web3.0 decentralized storage network Crust Network announced integration with Solana, providing the Solana ecosystem with a seamless, IPFS-compatible decentralized storage solution. Crust’s Web3 Authenticated IPFS gateway and pinning services are now available for Solana users. Crust Network currently operates over 7,000 IPFS nodes and offers approximately 2,000 PB of usable storage capacity.
Cross-chain oracle Flux goes live on NEAR mainnet
According to official announcements, cross-chain oracle platform Flux has launched on the NEAR mainnet. Flux provides secure data feeds for high-throughput data applications on the NEAR blockchain, such as platforms requiring access to large volumes of reliable data. The Flux team has also launched its FLX token. Earlier this year, Flux raised $10.3 million in a seed round from investors including Distributed Global, Coinbase Ventures, Coinfund, Figment Ventures, and Reciprocal Ventures.
