Anoma's native token $XAN officially launches, mainnet deployment begins
After the Ethereum mainnet, Anoma will first support key Ethereum Layer 2 networks, then expand to other ecosystems.
The long wait is over! On September 29, 2025, Anoma announced the official launch of its native token $XAN and the initiation of the Anoma mainnet rollout.
With today's release, the Anoma ecosystem has introduced its native token $XAN and governance system, now live on the Ethereum mainnet.
As the coordination mechanism for the Anoma ecosystem, $XAN will power existing Web3 networks, real-world applications, and native Anoma application instances. As the first phase of mainnet functionality, $XAN and Anoma’s governance mechanisms will enable the community to coordinate all future mainnet upgrades.
This marks the beginning of the Anoma mainnet rollout. Going forward, Anoma will progressively unlock the powerful capabilities of its decentralized operating system through a series of protocol upgrades starting from the mainnet testing phase.
Anoma is not another L1 or L2 blockchain, but a higher-level abstraction that shifts innovation upward to the application layer. It is an operating system that unifies all chains into a seamless environment, enabling smoother interactions for developers and users.
Anoma is not an incremental improvement over existing technologies, but a complete rethinking of how blockchains, dApps, and decentralized systems operate. Built on novel research, Anoma reimagines Web3 from the ground up to be as user-friendly, composable, scalable, and flexible as possible. Since the launch of the Ethereum Virtual Machine, this will be the most significant upgrade in the field of decentralized applications—a bold and long-term vision that must be realized step by step.
Starting today, with the launch of Anoma’s $XAN token and governance system on Ethereum, Anoma will take shape through a series of upgrades, continuously rolling out enhanced features and gradually supporting more blockchains and ecosystems. After the Ethereum mainnet, Anoma will first support key Ethereum Layer-2 networks, then expand to other ecosystems.
$XAN: The Coordination Hub of the Anoma Ecosystem

$XAN will serve as the global coordination mechanism for the entire Anoma ecosystem.
This means that wherever Anoma is deployed, $XAN will power applications in Web3 and the real world, driving network activity and economic flows—whether on existing networks like Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana, within native Anoma applications, or even local consensus formed on-demand between mobile devices or other hardware.
Starting today, $XAN can be used for payments, fees, and participation in Anoma governance voting. Future phases of the mainnet may introduce additional $XAN-related functionalities. $XAN holders can manage their tokens via the Anoma Portal or any ERC-20 compatible wallet.
Anoma Governance Overview
The initial version of the Anoma governance system launched today allows $XAN holders to lock their tokens to vote on protocol upgrade proposals.
There are two governing bodies authorized to initiate upgrade proposals:
- The "Voting Pool" composed of token holders
- The Governance Council
They act as checks on each other: if the Voting Pool fails to reach quorum, the Governance Council can initiate an upgrade proposal; conversely, proposals initiated by the Council can be vetoed by the Voting Pool. This creates a balanced mechanism preventing unilateral actions by either party.
Voting weight is proportional to the number of tokens a holder chooses to lock, ensuring participants are aligned with the protocol’s long-term development. Tokens locked for voting will be eligible for unlocking after a proposal takes effect. Like the Anoma mainnet itself, the governance system will evolve over time, gradually introducing more features for the ecosystem and community.
Anoma Portal: The Super Gateway to the Anoma Ecosystem
Anoma Portal is a native Anoma application and the gateway for users to access the Anoma ecosystem and its core protocol functions. Starting today, users can use Anoma Portal to view and manage their $XAN balances and participate in governance.
This release marks version 1 of Anoma Portal. As the mainnet continues to upgrade, the Portal will gain new features. Our goal is to evolve Anoma Portal into a truly native Web3 super app, serving as the central hub for discovering, exploring, and experiencing Anoma applications.
Anoma Portal is compatible with any Ethereum wallet, including Metamask, Phantom, Coinbase Wallet, and Rabby Wallet.
Looking Ahead: Aiming Higher and Further
The launch of Anoma’s native token $XAN and its governance system marks the beginning of a major leap in the crypto space—soon, developers and users will no longer be constrained by the complexity of blockchain infrastructure.
As the mainnet rollout progresses, Anoma will deliver a seamless experience across Web3 and empower a new generation of applications to genuinely compete with Web2.
Aiming higher and further, Anoma is rapidly advancing toward making it all a reality.

Users eligible for the first season of the Anoma airdrop can now claim their $XAN tokens at claim.anoma.foundation.
