X platform大规模封禁加密账号,多位华语大V中招
The platform has not yet provided a clear explanation, and community discussions continue to intensify.

On June 12, X (formerly Twitter) suddenly initiated a large-scale account suspension event, affecting numerous KOLs and official project accounts in the crypto space. This action has drawn widespread attention from the community, with many active accounts across both Chinese- and English-speaking circles impacted, including the GMGN official account and its founder, Killwolf, Wang Xiaoer, Wizard, ElizaOS team, among others.
Initially, many users believed the incident targeted only GMGN. Currently, affected accounts are gradually filing appeals, but the platform has yet to provide any clear explanation, and community discussions continue to intensify.
Suspensions Concentrated and Widespread—Not Just the GMGN Ecosystem
Haze, co-founder of GMGN, responded today via Telegram channel, stating that no official reason for the suspension has been received. The team is currently communicating with X to appeal the decision and hopes to restore access as soon as possible. While this isn't the first instance of platform cleanup actions, the sudden and unexplained nature of these suspensions has raised concerns among KOLs about the platform's content moderation mechanisms.
Among the suspended accounts, several well-known names from the Chinese crypto community were affected, including:
-
GMGN official account @gmgnai and founder Brother Ji @haze0x
-
Killwolf @Wolfy_XBT
-
Wang Xiaoer @brc20niubi
-
Wizard @0xCryptoWizard
-
gake @Ga__ke

At the same time, similar incidents occurred within the English-speaking community. The Meme project ElizaOS’s official account @elizaOS and its founder @shawmakesmagic were frozen yesterday. Some accounts associated with the TRUMP wallet were also temporarily suspended before being reinstated.

Although GMGN was the first to be noticed, the scope of affected accounts extends beyond a single project ecosystem. KOL Kuai Dong (@_FORAB) noted that based on user behavior patterns, these suspended accounts share several common characteristics:
-
Most have recently been active in topics related to AI Agents and Memes
-
Frequently mentioned or interacted with keywords such as ai16z, ElizaOS
-
Had prior interactions with GMGN team members or related topics
-
Some accounts experienced rapid follower growth and high posting frequency, potentially flagged by the system as manipulative dissemination
This suggests that the platform’s current wave of suspensions is more likely due to algorithmic detection based on behavioral patterns rather than targeting specific teams or language-based user groups.
Rumors and Misunderstandings Amid Public Outcry: Panic, Business Warfare, or Even "Getting Raided"
The incident quickly triggered panic within the Chinese community. Some individuals claimed in Telegram groups and WeChat chats that “the project team was raided in Shenzhen,” attributing the suspensions to some form of offline law enforcement operation.
However, logically speaking, such claims are largely unfounded. As a U.S.-based company, X relies on its internal content algorithms and signal models for risk control, without direct information channels to Chinese law enforcement agencies. Account suspensions remain fundamentally platform-driven actions, not the result of external intervention. Others speculate this could be business sabotage—rival parties may have filed mass reports to trigger X’s automated moderation system for competitive gain. This theory remains unverified. Another rumor suggests the incident might be linked to a politically charged Meme implying “Trump and Musk talking.” A number of suspended accounts had posted or shared this image.

This theory appears plausible at first glance, but closer inspection reveals many suspended accounts never shared the image. Meanwhile, smaller accounts that did post similar content but exhibited low overall activity were mostly unaffected. Additionally, countless other accounts sharing political Memes remain untouched. Therefore, attributing the suspensions solely to one image or specific piece of content lacks sufficient explanatory power. It's more likely that the Meme simply circulated among a group of accounts already under system scrutiny—but was not the root cause.
In fact, similar events occurred during the NFT boom in 2021, when many prominent cryptocurrency analysts, traders, and KOLs with hundreds of thousands or even millions of followers—including PlanB (@100trillionUSD), Willy Woo (@woonomic), @TheCryptoDog, and @woj.eth—had their accounts abruptly suspended without prior warning. Some were permanently banned, though many were later restored following significant community backlash.
What to Do If Your Account Gets Suspended?
According to Kuai Dong’s experience, similar incidents have happened before, where many institutional and media accounts were suspended simultaneously but eventually restored. Here’s what worked back then:
Option 1: Appeal directly. Submit an appeal explaining that due to being based in mainland China, accessing X often requires a proxy, leading to frequent IP changes. Also clarify that multiple team members manage the account, which may contribute to unusual login patterns. Clear and repeated appeals can help.
Option 2: Contact regional managers. In countries like the United States and Japan, where X has strong market presence, there are dedicated business and advertising representatives. According to those who’ve used this route, these managers can help identify the cause and expedite appeal processing. However, this channel is typically only available for corporate accounts, not individual users. In regions without direct representation, local 4A advertising agencies acting as X partners may also assist clients in reaching the platform.
Option 3: Wait for natural reinstatement. Some cases, like media outlet PANews, failed to regain access through formal channels but were mysteriously reinstated after about a year.
There are countless such examples, with recovery times ranging from three months to over a year. However, creating new accounts during this period may also lead to further suspensions.
How Can Content Creators Protect Themselves?
In the absence of official clarification, how should creators and projects protect themselves? Currently, several practical preventive measures are circulating within the industry:
-
Avoid repeatedly posting contract addresses or trading links within short periods
Especially for newly launched projects, unaudited contracts, or highly speculative Meme assets, such behavior easily triggers risk control systems.
-
Avoid spamming content heavily aligned with trending hashtags
Continuously posting terms like “AI Agent,” “CA,” “airdrop,” or “meme season” may be flagged as coordinated manipulation.
-
Reduce concentrated interactions around a single account or project
This includes mass retweeting, commenting, or liking posts from a particular KOL—such “coordinated engagement” is considered high-risk behavior under X’s updated algorithm.
For most content creators, X remains one of the most critical traffic hubs. However, under AI-powered content moderation systems, strategies once deemed effective—such as high-frequency posting—are now becoming increasingly risky.
