Web3 games venture into the AI Agent赛道, why did the character Freya gain popularity and make it to Binance Alpha?
Before other well-known blockchain gaming projects entered the space, the Roguelike fantasy-style RPG Starfall Chronicles boldly ventured into the AI agent field with Freya, its star in-game character, and has recently been shortlisted for Binance Alpha.

As the narrative around AI Agents intensifies, numerous projects in the gaming sector are beginning to enter the space. Recently, Illuvium announced a partnership with Virtuals Protocol, stating it will leverage Virtuals' AI technology and its G.A.M.E LLM framework to provide NPCs with dynamic, intelligent behaviors for enhanced player immersion. Planet Mojo, an auto-chess game, has launched its AI Agent Mr. WWA (Winston Wylde Alexander), with the WWA token serving as the platform’s reward token, and plans to introduce an AI Agent-based game.
However, even before these well-known blockchain games entered the AI agent arena, one blockchain game had already surged ahead—bringing its star character "Freya" into the spotlight—and recently made it into Binance Alpha.
Starfall Chronicles: The World Where Freya Was Born
Starfall Chronicles is an AI-driven, fantasy-themed RPG with roguelike elements developed by Rosentica. The project aims to deliver strategic depth in combat systems and highly customizable character development. Set in a dynamically evolving universe powered by autonomous AI companions and NPCs, Starfall Chronicles released its alpha version in November 2024, with the beta version scheduled for January 2025. According to a December announcement from Immutable, Starfall Chronicles will also launch on the Immutable platform.
The game's strong artistic and visual design can be largely attributed to lead artist Sangsoo Jeong, a renowned South Korean concept artist and illustrator who has previously collaborated multiple times with Riot Games on League of Legends, creating artwork for numerous champion skins.
In addition, Rosentica aims to attract players through rich storytelling and deeply complex characters, having already unveiled nine characters including Freya, Vera, and Lionheart. Players can recruit characters through gacha mechanics, with permanent recruitment divided into six types: Common, Elite, Legendary, Knight, Warrior, and Ranger, along with time-limited and temporary recruitment options.

Starfall Chronicles employs the Fateweaver Gacha system, ensuring that every recruited character has randomized skills and attributes, guaranteeing uniqueness for each individual. To enhance customization, Rosentica has developed a sophisticated talent tree system allowing players to deeply tailor their characters by configuring different skill sets according to personal playstyles and preferences. Additionally, each character features randomized stat growth levels ranging from C to SS, and even randomly assigned constellations.
Game Mechanics of Starfall Chronicles
At the start of battle, mercenaries from both sides are deployed onto a grid formation set by the player beforehand. Combat proceeds in turns and sequences. Each turn represents a full cycle during which all surviving mercenaries get one action opportunity, taking turns based on speed attributes—with faster units acting first. The battle ends when all mercenaries on one side are eliminated. In the currently available version, only CLASH (single-player PVP mode) is open; details about Tournaments (multiplayer PVP mode) and Seafaring Mode will be revealed prior to Beta testing.
These gameplay mechanics themselves are not particularly novel and have little connection to today’s trending AI agents. However, in the recently unveiled Infinity 7 mode, the team introduced that each of the nine main characters will function as intelligent, adaptive AI agents capable of evolving based on player interactions and preferences. These characters are designed to be truly alive—with distinct personalities, behaviors, and decision-making processes—that organically respond to player actions.

Notably, among the nine main characters, only $Freya will be tokenized and used beyond in-game utilities. In Infinity 7, players can spend $Freya to permanently alter a character’s personality, likes, dislikes, and even core worldview—to align with personal preferences and influence their role in unfolding storylines. With no pre-scripted events, players are free to choose their own goals and actions, while the entire narrative dynamically evolves based on player decisions—all generated procedurally by a narrative engine and adaptive behavior simulation system.
Functions and Staking Mechanism of the $Freya Token
Beyond in-game spending, $Freya serves additional functions such as participating in governance voting, accessing rarest features, staking, and revenue distribution. According to DexScreener data, as of early January 10, the market cap of $Freya was approximately $15.6 million.
As mentioned above, the most common use of $Freya within the game is for personalized character design. To prevent price volatility from affecting the player experience, Starfall Chronicles has fixed the in-game purchase price of $Freya at a dollar-equivalent value, shielding players from market fluctuations and offering a more stable, intuitive spending experience.

Additionally, re-rolling a character’s skill or upgrading their random stat growth tier are among the rarest in-game functions—unattainable via gacha pulls, leveling up, or battle tickets—and can only be unlocked using $Freya tokens.
On community governance, the team plans to introduce Sunflower Roundtable Meetings—a mechanism enabling players to submit proposals and vote on the future direction of the game. Submitting proposals and voting require holding a certain amount of $Freya, allowing players to vote on changes related to skill balancing, character redesigns, gameplay modes, storyline directions, feature designs, and adjustments to game systems, difficulty, and rewards.
$Freya operates under a deflationary economic model: 20% of every token transaction is permanently burned, reducing total supply, while the remaining $Freya is redistributed proportionally to stakers based on their stake size. $Freya holders can stake their tokens in the <Stardust Gate> to earn dividends from all in-game $Freya expenditures.
Through these mechanisms, $Freya holders not only benefit from potential token appreciation but also share in the profits generated by the game’s success and revenue—becoming indirect investors and beneficiaries of Starfall Chronicles.
