McLaren Racing and OKX unveil exclusive 'Legend Reborn' livery for Singapore Grand Prix, paying tribute to the MP4 era
The MP4 series is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula 1 cars ever built, demonstrating true innovation—a quality both brands value.
On September 19, McLaren Racing and leading blockchain technology company and McLaren F1 Team’s Official Primary Partner OKX unveiled a limited-edition “Legend Reborn” livery design, which will be featured on the McLaren MCL38 F1 car at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.
The “Legend Reborn” livery was co-designed by McLaren and OKX to honor McLaren's iconic MP4 era from 1981 to 1996. The MP4 series is widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 cars in history, embodying true innovation—a value both brands deeply share. This new livery blends elements from the MP4 era with McLaren’s signature papaya orange, paying tribute to the team’s storied past.
"Legend Reborn" made its debut at an exclusive trackside event in Singapore, attended by OKX Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, and McLaren F1 Team drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
The livery also pays homage to legendary McLaren drivers such as Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and Niki Lauda, who drove and helped shape the iconic MP4 era. The names of 13 standout drivers from that period are incorporated into the cockpit design.
The collaboration between McLaren and OKX focuses on innovation and enhancing fan engagement. "Legend Reborn," rooted in McLaren’s heritage, evokes a powerful sense of nostalgia while propelling McLaren into broader motorsport circles.
This livery follows earlier this year’s Senna tribute livery—“McLaren Senna presented by OKX”—which debuted at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Louise McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer at McLaren Racing, said: “It’s fantastic to partner with OKX to bring our third custom livery back to Singapore. ‘Legend Reborn’ is a brilliant way to celebrate and commemorate our iconic history, uniting fans old and new. Following this year’s Senna campaign, this livery further demonstrates our partnership with OKX as we continue delivering unique brand stories for fans across both brands globally.”
Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer at OKX, said: “Like McLaren, we believe in the power of perseverance and innovation. This year, we’ve launched some upgrades of our own, including a complete wallet overhaul that makes accessing the on-chain world easier for people around the globe. We believe, just like in F1, cryptocurrency can be disrupted by visionary teams who innovate fearlessly and embrace a challenger mindset. Now is the time for a new era to replace the established order, and Legend Reborn encourages us to look back to the past for inspiration as we chart new paths forward.”
