Aptos Experience is an immersive Web3 event focused on showcasing the development of the Web3 ecosystem centered around the Aptos blockchain.
Navigating Web3 tides with focused insightsJeff Ren, Partner at OKX Ventures, was invited to attend the "Aptos Experience" event on September 5, 2024, where he moderated a panel discussion titled "APAC's Investment Potential & Key Drivers for Adoption."
The panel brought together industry leaders including Mo Shaik, CEO and Co-Founder of Aptos Labs; James Zhang, Founder of Jambo; and Vincent Park, Investment Lead at IRONGREY, to discuss the growth and development of the Web3 ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region.
Key highlights from the panel included:
1) The Importance of Robust Infrastructure: Panelists highlighted the evolution of Web3 infrastructure, using prominent blockchains like Aptos as examples. They emphasized that strong infrastructure is critical for application-layer growth, citing projects such as the Jambo Phone and OKX Web3 Wallet as prime illustrations.
2) Bridging Web2 and Web3: Jambo's innovative $99 Web3 phone designed for Southeast Asian markets serves as an excellent case study for onboarding Web2 users into the Web3 ecosystem, leveraging accessible hardware and pre-installed Web3 applications.
3) Developer Engagement: Aptos Labs’ strategy of actively engaging young developers, communities, and students in South Korea was recognized as a successful model for driving regional innovation and technology adoption.
4) AI and Web3 Convergence: The panel explored potential synergies between AI and Web3 technologies, emphasizing the need for decentralized and secure data access. Discussions also covered AI’s potential in content generation and considered associated regulatory challenges.
5) Regional Focus: IRONGREY’s investment strategy across infrastructure and application layers demonstrates the potential of the APAC region, with expectations for more Web3 innovations to emerge there in the future.
Prior to this event, OKX Ventures and the Aptos Foundation announced a $10 million fund aimed at supporting the growth of the Aptos ecosystem and enabling mass adoption of Web3.
Earlier this year, OKX Ventures also partnered with Jambo to enhance digital economic accessibility in emerging markets by combining advanced Web3 and mobile technologies.
