Babylon Mainnet First Phase Activated, Cobo API Faces Major Performance Test
Cobo helped clients successfully stake over 700 BTC using Babylon's BTC Staking API.
Author: Cobo
On August 22, 2024, the Babylon ecosystem reached a significant milestone—the activation of its mainnet's first phase, enabling Bitcoin (BTC) staking on the Babylon network. This breakthrough marks a major advancement for the Bitcoin ecosystem in terms of scalability and diversified financial applications, while also offering Cobo an exceptional opportunity to demonstrate its technical excellence.
For security reasons, the Babylon team initially capped total staking at 1,000 BTC, with a maximum of 0.05 BTC per individual stake. This limitation presented a unique technical challenge: How could clients successfully stake their BTC on Babylon amid fierce competition and within an extremely short time window?
In this unprecedented race, Cobo assisted clients in successfully staking over 700 BTC on Babylon—accounting for more than 70% of the total.
Cobo’s BTC Staking API demonstrated outstanding performance in high-concurrency environments by supporting UTXO splitting, pre-signing of staking transactions, and batch broadcasting. After multiple rounds of testing and optimization, the API proved highly adaptable and efficient, giving clients a critical edge in securing limited staking slots during intense competition. The API covers the entire staking process, lowers technical barriers, and delivers clear performance advantages across several dimensions:
-
Secure Custody: Clients can deposit BTC into Cobo’s secure custody environment and seamlessly complete staking via the BTC Staking API, enhancing asset security.
-
Pre-Signature Optimization: Supports pre-signing of staking transactions, allowing users to set multi-tier gas fees in advance, fully preparing for high-concurrency scenarios and volatile fee markets.
-
Efficient UTXO Management: By splitting UTXOs, the API optimizes transaction construction and improves overall capital efficiency under Babylon protocol constraints.
-
Batch Transaction Broadcasting: This feature excels when handling large volumes of concurrent requests. At the moment of mainnet activation, the system could orderly process all client staking requests simultaneously, ensuring transactions quickly and smoothly entered the Bitcoin network.
-
Full-Cycle Support: The API supports subsequent unbonding operations, providing users with complete staking and unstaking capabilities to meet full lifecycle asset management needs.
-
Self-Broadcast Capability: The API allows users to obtain pre-signed staking transactions. While using Cobo’s service for batch broadcasting, users can also choose to broadcast transactions through their own customized nodes, avoiding potential bottlenecks caused by single-point performance limitations of Cobo’s service.
As a leading provider of digital asset custody and wallet technology, Cobo prioritizes security above all else, even while delivering high performance.
